It’s not like the tomcat is a “handful either” it’s a pretty mild, gentlemanly cartridge even in a mouse gun.

Israel selected the Jaguar, the 22lr version, as the weapon for their anti-terrorist, sky marshals and other wet-work for its utter reliability and effectiveness.

Unfortunately I let my71 go when I stepped up to the 32acp version but sure would like to find another I could afford.

A good friend of mine recently obtained a high quality repro FG-42. I haven't yet made the trip to view it in person but once the wife is all healed we'll be making the drive so she can find inspiration for watercolor on his 50 acres and the boys can play with their toys.

Not cheap at all. If memory serves he spent $2500 and 22 months waiting. I'm certainly envious of his collection; the only person I know who owns a grenade launcher.

The SKS I used to have still had the grenade launcher.

And today's picture is my S&W 59 in my period correct Bucheimer BC-78 Concealer holster.

Breaking in a new holster, a Bodyguard from Bullard Holsters for my 1911s. Interestingly even though it is a slide type I have issues using it with a Commander length version rather than the full GI size. All three of my Commander length 1911s, two ambi safety and one left side only safety can still move enough to swipe the thumb safety off while still holstered. Neither of my GI versions, one ambi and the other left side only have that issue.

The holster with a Girsan Commander size ambi safety 1911:

I like the holster, it holds the grip tight against my body and it's wide enough to really distribute the weight of a full size 1911. The rake is sufficient to make it comfortable sitting and even in the car but I'll reserve it for only the full size 1911s. Initially I'll also carry without a round in the chamber until I'm confident it doesn't swipe the thumb safety off while holstered.

Bi-Mart has been closing-out some guns lately so I took advantage:
IMG_20230725_175433709.jpg
They were only $299.00 ea! Couldn't pass that up!
The compact is a Tanfoglio Defiant (13rd) and the full-size is a Defiant Force Plus (16rd)
My wife liked the Force Plus so much I traded it to her for her pre-ban HK USP.
Now if I could only find some better grips for the compact. It's my only real beef with the Tanfoglios is that they install fat chunky grips instead of the slimmer grips of the CZ-75. My old Springfield P9 and ITM AT-84S are the same way. I have the CZ grips on the AT-84S, but I can't find them for the Defiant.

Sure are! We've had them out several times and they have functioned flawlessly. Extra Tanfoglio mags were inexpensive as well and interchange with my ITM just fine.
I'm becoming a big fan of the compact.

If you are talking about the P226, there's not much chance of that happening.

Decades ago I sold off several of my Sigs, a very early Tysons corner P226, a West German stamped P225 and one of the very first Poly frames Sigs, an SP2009. I immediately regretted selling the P226 (actually trading for a Dan Wesson Pointman/Patriot). Big mistake.

Found this one not too long ago to fill the void and it's not on the adoption list.

I understand completely. I sold mine almost 30 years ago and have regretted it ever since.

That's about when I sold mine as well. I kept the P230 though and later added a couple P290RS: one 380 and one 9mm. Those I never did like and so the P290RS went to Forever Homes. Don't miss them. I have a line on another P229 with three mags and so will likely add in in a week or so. It's an early assembled in US one.

S&W's fist semi auto.
Have you found any 35 ammo for it?

All I've seen of what's out there is priced high $5 to $15 a round, I got five rounds with it in an original box along with a S&W letter for it, and an odd pocket holster for it, two magazines, along with a couple other items the previous owner acquired.
Everything I've read indicates the 35 cal ammo is virtually identical to 32 acp. and 32 acp works in the model 1913, but I bought it as a collectable and not a shooter. My second oldest S&W now.

Shooting with my brother on Monday (MLK Day) I was shocked at how I had forgotten much less recoil my Ruger 1771 shooting .38 Special has than my H-K VP-9 shooting 9mm. Of course the Ruger is a heavy 4.5" stainless steel wheel gun and the H-K is a poly striker-fired. At 10 yards I shot multiple bulls with the Ruger, but it took a bit to get accurate with the VP9 (been too long away from the range--It had been well over a year).
