The second long gun from the right is a restored North West Trade Gun.
The gun came to us Converted to percussion and in a stock that was to far gone to save.
The lock , barrel and furniture are all original , but it has been restocked.
Lock markings are "Parker Field &Co. 1837."
It is in .20 gauge , which is uncommon as many are .24 / .28 gauge.

Wow, more than I know about the type firearm. Thanks man! Very nice!

I shoot; therefore, I clean.

Let it be known that beer contains more nutrition than does Hoppes No. 9. Don't ask.

One extraordinarily convenient feature of hand guns over long guns is the ease in cleaning. Moreover, the smaller the weapon cleaned, and the more minimalist the overall conception, the more room there is on the cleaning table for beer. And patches--have to have patches. We need those steenkin patches.

40mm Ak ak

That's what my dad called this, ak-ak. This is a 40mm anti aircraft shell from the aircraft carrier he served on in WWII. It's filled with plaster of Paris. My brother and I each got one. .45-70 for scale--and that's a 300 grain head there. The background wood will become shelves in my reloading shack.

Here are two rimmed cartridges. One has a real nice patina, I must say. The other has been fired perhaps three times. No splits so far. Truth be told, the 250 grainers are a bit more pleasant to shoot, but these 300 grainers turn in cloverleafs at 100 meters with my Siamese Mauser build. A 40 mm ak-ak gun is on my project list--five round stripper clips. Should be California legal, arguably. Badly.

Yah. I'm really becoming more fond of it the more rifles I do. It gives the wood a velvety texture. Yummy.

I had this thing out to slap the scope on for some load development work later this week. I got to thinking it was kinda pretty, despite the enormous spyglass on top. Might need to tie on a folded dish towel to raise the cheek for scope use.

I'll bet that's the weirdest anachronism I see today.

In Portland, there'd be a chance of seeing someone riding a penny-farthing bike with a laptop bag on their back, but weird bikes seem to have declined in Seattle, probably due to an inverse relationship with the shocking rent increases.

Just love bonsi.

The city of st.louis is cutting down 15, 000 elm tree that were planted between 40 and 60 years ago. All of the are a little bit bigger than yours. A beetle has invaded and its the only thing they can do.

I have to say one thing about st.louis, we have more trees than most cities. Now out in the out lying cities and burbs there is less foligae2, but in the actual city limits theres at least a dozen trees per block on side streets.
