278Howdy from Parma, Ohio!
Dunno that I qualify as a Liberal in the current American common use of the term, but I seem to fit the classic definition ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism ) very well. I am flexible in my views; governance should adapt to real-world challenges, but core values remain the same. Our founding documents make it clear that our culture -- our vision -- is supposed to be about ensuring that government exists to serve the people, not the other way around.
That said, everything on the opening pages of this web site align perfectly with my long-held views. Which, I must say, is refreshing. Usually I'm the odd ball out on some thing or another. Almost makes me wonder if I missed something. :-D
Lessee, what else? Until recently, strictly a carbine guy. Now licensed for CCW.
Born in Michigan, raised in the Chicago area (with summers on one of the family farms in Indiana). Wanted to move to Colorado from a young age; Air Force 11 years (Texas 3½ yrs, Colorado 7½). Never thought I'd leave. But family needs called us to my wife's hometown, so here we are in Ohio. Looks like this might be it for the long haul.
We are both CCW carriers, H&K P30L in deep appendix Enigma for me, Walther PDP-F4 in shoulder rig for her. I am an absolute geek about concealment. Most people have the proverbial box of holsters; I have one holster and box of clothing accessories that didn't work out.
My perspective on that front is essentially that polite society has no use for weapons, and we've been a statistically polite society for so long that the average citizen gets a little wigged out by the mere knowledge of the presence of weapons. They frequently find themselves unable to even hold a normal conversation because they are so terribly distracted by the presence of the weapon. Things just can't be normal for them. So -- my mantra is:
The purpose of concealed carry is to allow normal to remain normal until normal is no longer possible.
Beyond that, I'm a staunch believer that the Second Amendment pointedly refers to the right as being necessary in order to be able to form militias with which to defend the nation. Any argument about so-called "Weapons of War" is not only nonsensical, given that a rock can be a weapon of war, but doesn't hold the Constitutionality test. It says right there "militia" and "security of a free state". It *means* weapons of war.
Now -- is there room to argue that we might need to move past that in our society? Sure. Every perspective can be argued (so long as the argument is in earnest). But until you change the Constitution, don't you dare come at me with any argument that says we need to get weapons of war out of the hands of citizens. That is precisely what the Second Amendment constrains the government from being able to do.
: : Looks around, sees soapbox : : Hmm, let me step down here. I'm pretty sure I'm preaching to the choir here.
Anyway, Hi! As you can tell, I'm the shy, quiet, demure type. Seeya!

279Hello to all from NW Florida and best wishes
I saw mention of this site in a recent 4 boxes diner youtube. You guys might want to thank M Smith for advertising this group. He is very conservative but seems to be a good lawyer on the constitution.
BREAKING 2A NEWS: THIS IS GREAT FOR 2A... ''America's Private Self-Defense Gun Culture just took a giant leap forward this week. Mark Smith Four Boxes Diner explains. '' On an interview with Oprah W, VP Harris said she would shoot someone breaking into her home and Liberal Gun Owners Club was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal. So I joined to see what this is all about.
I like guns and growing plants and am trying to educate three white english farm bulldogs. I am retired.
I do not fit in any political group so far. I used to be way to the left and I have since learned better. I got taken to peace marches when I was very young and I still am usually opposed to wars in foreign lands. I handload and own a lot of different guns. I just purchased a CZ P-09C nocturne and put a holosun optic on since it comes milled out to accept such. I fired it after our clubs bullseye 900 match. I like it and I will do some more with it prior to carrying it for self defense. It being SA/DA is a safer gun to carry compared to glocks. I am very much into safety.
I got introduced to guns by a former CIO Union organizer that was present during battles with little steel and he was present at the 1937 Memorial Day Massacre outside of Republic Steel in the Chicago-Gary steel making area. That says something about my age and Mr. Adams is long dead.
I will go through and read some posts and see if I am compatible with this forum.

Re: Greetings to all new forum members!
283Hello,
I’m in Colorado Springs and looking for a non rw weapons dealer and range. Preferably one that also offers some tactical training. I’m a former US Marine, but it’s been a minute and I’m feeling the need to refresh my skill set but I don’t want to deal with the rw bs right now.
I’m also a former wilderness survival instructor with a desert environs specialty if anyone is interested in some training on that, and willing to trade training for training as well.

284Greetings:
I am a new member from Chicagoland, IL area.
I have been thinking of joining a gun club for quite some time now. I go to a gun range very rarely. I would like to change that.
I would like to write a bit longer introduction over the coming days.
I am a firm believer in Classical Liberalism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_liberalism).
I am also a firm believer of core principles of Modest Conservatism: Individual Freedom, Free Markets, Peace through Strength, The Rule of Law (which includes the separation of Church and State).
Fundamentally, Classical Liberalism and Modest Conservatism are not very far.
In today's world, I don't see either of those fundamental political believes in the right wing of the society. Instead, the left wing of the society has embraced most of those views.
I would love to meet fellow Chicagoland, Wisconsin, or Michigan forum members to get more education and training on guns.
Thank you

285New to the Forum, but been a card carrying member since 2019 (mostly just use the FB groups). if someone could help me get access to the members only areas and groups on the forum it would be greatly appreciated. looking to get into the LGC VA/DC/MD group.
Re: Greetings to all new forum members!
286Hello from DFW! I've been in the Liberal Gun community for a while, but I finally signed up for membership to LGC today. I've followed the public FB page for years, sometimes participating in discussion. I have been a member of the forum for a few years, but I've not ever posted AFAICR.
I've been involved with firearms since I was around 10, beginning in the 1980s. I learned fundamentals of safety and shooting on a Daisy spring-air pistol, various air rifles, and a pump-action .22 LR, trained by my father. I purchased my first rifle (a Marlin 2-piece Papoose in .22 LR) when I turned 18. That started my collection, which is pretty decent now.
My favorites to take to the range or the field are my PTR 9CT, several Glocks in different configurations, Makarov 9x18 East German pistol, and 2-piece 10.5" AR-15 pistol.
I like to go to the range, but not nearly as often as I'd like. Mostly, I go to Eagle near Addison, but sometimes I go to DFW Gun Range and Academy. Most often, I shoot by myself, unless my wife or son decided to join me. I'd like to find more range time and training opportunities in DFW, Texas, and surrounding states, which isn't run by good old boys with low tolerance for anything outside of normal (to them).
Currently, I am trying to find shotgun training and ranges which are not solely birdshot ranges, for my wife and me (with the same criteria above: I am not tolerant of intolerance).

287Greetings from Central New Jersey! (yes, we do exist)
I’m a lifelong liberal and have owned firearms for the last 10 years, a longtime lurker on the forum but just recently became a card carrying member. I live in the western part of the state an hour from Philly and NYC, so looking for events and to link up with anyone from the NJ chapter, eastern PA, or southern NY. Hopefully one of the mods can help with access to the NJ forum.
Thanks to you all, great to see so many like minded individuals.

288Greetings! I am new to this space and am in the DC Metro Area. I recently acquired my first handgun, though I have shot many over the years and have owned rifles and shotguns. Glad to be here!
