He's just the first out of the gate. I think there's a deep bench from the Dems, but mostly women. It is unfortunate that votes have rejected two strong and qualified women in favor of a con man. It's gonna be a long four years.

Indeed, they did. In 2004, White Democrats ignored Carol Moseley Braun, a strong and qualified woman, in her Presidential bid. In 2008, they did it again, ignoring Cynthia McKinney, another strong and qualified woman.

Puritanism, the sort of base vibe for America, employs the Strong Father archetype as taught in the Bible--where women have really but one function. A pox on their houses, all.

If you look across the pond to our cousins, they have had 3 female prime ministers and they've all been the elected leaders of the Conservative Party, not the Labour (socialist) Party. I think the first female US president could very well be a Republican. Nikki Haley ran a good campaign and if Trump wasn't running, she might have been the Republican presidential nominee. Haley is Indian-American and the UK recently had an Indian-British prime minister, Rishi Sunak. JD Vance's wife is Indian-American.

There is no love lost between Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris though they lightly papered their differences for the campaign. Unless something unexpected happens, I expect Newsom to start running in 2027 in hopes of winning the White House. However unless he starts distancing himself from the left wing of the Democratic Party and takes more centrist positions, he won't make it in 2028. Harris tried to back peddle on her left wing positions, but it didn't quite work with voters.

Ahhhhnuld and Brown were both better on the climate than Newsom's been. We're going backwards on solar as well as environmental protections for his pet projects. Why wouldn't we want to mine lithium in a sensitive environment without first doing environmental review? Because Newsom wants to, that's why.

If Democrats capture the US House again and impeach Trump, I expect the Republican majority leader of the US Senate will do exactly what Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer did. When the House impeached DHS secretary Mayorkas, Senate Democrats voted along party lines to dismiss the impeachment articles as being unconstitutional. Case closed.

We're likely to have a very bumpy 4 years ahead, but I'm certain we will have an election in 2028. We had an election during the Civil War, WWI and WWII so we'll elect a new president in 2028.

Really? Trump is more honest? You toss out lots of propaganda without evidence. Prove it.
Appreciate that you think I'm in a place of authority where I can spout propaganda! Never thought I was that important or that the 10 of us here were a large enough audience. I'll expect supporting evidence from all your statements going forward in return. No more unsubstantiated opinions, eh? Fair is fair. Or, we can just have discussions on a discussion board. (Sorry it rubs you that I don't unconditionally support Dems)

Anyway, go read up on his dealings with the CA PUC, rooftop solar, high speed rail, restaurant minimum wage, all the horseshit you can imagine on gun control, etc. He's the real deal used car salesman. Even shared a love interest with one of the trump boys, if that's an indication of character. High quality dude. Both of 'em.

Luckily for you from what I gather your have a state pension, correct? Or work for a large corp.
Good for you , u can say how much you hate your state .gov and still get retirement. eh?
Look at the details on CA leading solar and wind. You complain about regs and checking boxes to save the environment yet say you care. It's one way or the other bud.

How long do you guys really think he'll live, considering his diet? How long do you really think his orange brain will last? He can't simultaneously be mentally deteriorating and be a dictator in four years. You need to pick one.
Don't you have a state retirement? You get to bitch about checking boxes about the environment yet complain about it. It's one or the other. Once you rip into the ground it's all over.

No pension and no large corp. I'm sure you know environmental regs better than I. I've only been in the field a short 25 years, so will defer to your out of state non working knowledge. You've defeated me. The government is beyond reproach. We shall no longer have to discuss it.
