Any other Heckler and Koch Aficionados Here?

I hang on a Facebook Owners Group for Langdon Tactical Technologies which specializes in performance upgrades for various pistols including the Beretta Px4's I am so whipped on. LTT also offers upgrades for H&K P30, USP and P2000 series pistols and within this group the H&K lovers and Beretta Aficionados seem to have a healthy rivalry for which are the best. Long story short I decided to buy an HK P30LS V3 pistol to trick it out the same way my Px4's are tricked and see how they compare.

I wanted the 15 round mags but there was not an Illinois Compliant/15 round magazine version available to I bought the ten round California compliant version and, because HK is having a "Magapalooza 2024" incentive I get $150 worth of free 15 round mags. 3 free magazines and the price was still lower from my LGS than I could find online. Picked up the pistol on a Thursday and had the mags in hand the following Tuesday! Impressive and seamless.

Got my RDO already (Holosun EPS) and the mounting plate is being shipped. Before I even shot the pistol, it got cleaned up of all the factory gunk and re lubed and shipped to LTT for a trigger job with short reset kit, 11# silicon chrome hammer spring, and a Gray Guns flat, steel trigger (just like my Px4's!) so I can do a side by side evaluation. Overall I loved the ergonomics of the HK P30 while dry firing it with the Px4's and this is gonna be an epic fun bunch of evals and testing when it's done.

Anybody else got their Jones tickled by H&K?

Awesome. I didn't think I'd get on with the mag release but after playing with it and an hour of dry fire against a timer I *really* like the mag release. Index finger release is fast and accurate - I was surprised. Must be nice still living in a Free State that can own suppressors. :beer2:

I tried out a few H&K pistols in the past. They just weren't a good fit for my hands. But they are undoubtedly well made. If an H&K pistol fits one's hands, I say go for it.

I know this is the handgun section, but the H&K 91 rifle, I've found, is a very reliable old-school battle rifle. Heavy, but reliable. Originally chambered for 7.62 NATO in the G3 (full-auto military version), the 91 is semi-auto only and is apparently rated for .308 Win (slightly higher pressure than NATO rounds). The kick isn't bad, due to both the semi-auto action and the rifle's mass. The sights aren't bad, and the rifle will shoot about 1-2 MOA with decent ammo. It can beat up the brass, especially the case mouths, a bit unless you install the port buffer. Then it's no worse than, say, an AR. The PTR-91 is the continuation of the H&K 91, and made in the USA now, to boot. Good stuff.

LIke Cowboy, HK handguns just don't feel comfy to me. I wish they did, tho.

As far as their rifles go, the HK91 is my go-to rifle for most applications. I've had it since new in the early 80's.

It has had a few mods done over the years; finish, trigger, mag release, buffer, deflector, brake, and buttpad. The scope has changed from the S&B variable to a fixed Steiner 4X now.

Are those HK91's roller locked actions? Back when I still had my Sig Sauer MPX PCC in custody, a buddy who owned an HK MP5 (or the semi auto version anyway) used to shoot with me. Man, did that roller lock beat up the brass. Which horrified a hand loader of course. Super nice firearm.

Yes, the G3/HK91 is a roller-locked rifle.
Yes, it leaves marks (tiger stripes) on the ejected case.
Yes, one can reload them anyway (I don't reload anything).

HK designed a case buffer attachment to alleviate the usual dent incurred in the ejection action. It works well, at the expense of marring the paint finish upon installation/removal. It also wears out, and will require replacement.

HK also designed a weld-on case deflector, installed on thousands of G3's in regular rebuild cycles. It's function is to prevent a freshly ejected case from hitting the shooter on your right, rather causing it to fly forward.

The question? Why would any battle rifle designer give a hoot what happens to fired cases? None.

My fired brass gets gifted to any reloader that wants it.

Congrats on your new HK VooDoo ! I don't own one, but I've shot an HK and they're fine handguns. IIRC HK came out with the first polymer handgun years before Glock. If YT was around he'd talk about his HK VP9 that he owns. People seem to have a favorite among handgun brands like Glock, SIG, Beretta and HK. European police often carry one of the four, the Spanish National Police carry the HK USP 9 mm and the Danish Police carry the HK USP Compact.

HK might be better known for their rifles, like their MP5 submachine gun. It's carried by military and police around the world and has been around since the 1960s.

For me, on the HK P30L pistol and the MP5 I have handled, the ergonomics are stellar. I spent an entire evening with my new P30L changing out back straps and side panels playing mix and match to get the pistol to fit like a glove to my grip. Amazing ergonomics making presentation consistency fast and intuitive.

Best handgun grip I have ever felt or worked with. Can't wait to get it back with the performance upgrades and mount my RDO and start bangin'.

Back from Langdon Tactical Technologies with trigger job and a short reset kit with Gray Guns flat steel trigger. Way buttery and smoother DA pull and light single action with very short reset. Added a Holosun EPS RDO mounted on a Dove Adaptive Mounting Solutions "DoveDot" mounting plate that comes with integral iron sight (for backup) and a raised front fiber optic sight. If the RDO goes dead I still have backup iron sights that are co witnessed with the RDO.

Next Friday she goes to the range for zeroing the new sight and breaking in.Pretty cool - I'm stoked!

Thread hijack spoiler...

As Subguns go, an MP-5 in any config was really hard to find in the past.

I went with a MAC-10 in .45ACP. Bought it new back in '81 for $250, and $100 for the Sionic can.

Spent more on tax stamps than the hardware...

BTW, the original Sionic Mac-Bag doubles as an ersatz plate carrier.
