It seems the entire presidential election system goes into a tailspin if just one governor of one state refuses to certify that state’s election results? And Congress then gets to decide who becomes president?
Did I read that correctly?

States have different laws on elections, IIRC in Arizona the governor, secretary of state, the attorney general and the chief justice must certify a presidential election and they did in 2020 for Biden. Even though in 2020 the governor, attorney general and chief justice were all Republicans. If a governor refused to certify an election, I assume they'd be taken to court and ordered to comply. Just more good reasons to rid ourselves of the current system of the electoral college and congress certifying the vote and going to a strict national popular majority vote with the winner gets the office.

Most countries have some sort of a national election commission that counts and certifies elections, but our elections aren't controlled nationally, each state runs elections for federal state and local offices. I don't see the Electoral College going away in my lifetime.

The goal of the GOP is to get the election thrown to the House. There must be an overwhelming victory, one way or another, or there's a potential for chaos. Yeah, China and Russia are all, "Sweet."
