Politics involves performance art whether on Youtube or from politicians like MTG, Boebert, the Squad... The two political parties advocate for different issues and some of us agree with some of the Democratic issues and some we don't.

The parties are the same when it comes to fund raising and billionaire donors that influence the special interests and issues they support. Even when issues are solved in a bipartisan way each side takes credit and bashes the other one. The two parties have a lot in common.

The only thing they have in common is they breathe the same air along with their political tactics - when it comes to policy and governing, the split is astronomical. or in the words of that great orange orator, YUGE !!

Look, both sides attack the capitol when they lose and both sides try to keep the POTUS in power unlawfully. Well maybe not exactly but those are all “things” and both sides do “things” so they’re exactly the same, right?

Republicans are basically trying to outlaw trans people, but that’s just their agenda. Everyone’s entitled to their agenda, right? Democrats also try to advance their agenda so there’s no difference, right?

If a lawmaker tries to expand access to healthcare and another lawmaker tries to limit access to healthcare, no one can say that one of those things is better or worse than the other because in both cases a lawmaker is trying to do something and lawmakers of both parties do things, so everything is the same as everything else, right?

Except, no! That’s not true. Adults need to be able to look at two things and say, this is better than that, or that is better than this. The parties are not the same.
Whatever I said above, just pretend I included the obligatory “both sides,” especially if I said something mean about Trump (don’t want to hurt any feelings).

The parties are different on issues, I support the ACA as I always have and expanding health care for everyone is important. Voters see strengths and weaknesses in each party and bread and butter issues are what people tend to vote on, what parties are doing now not in the past. Latest NBC News poll.
The latest NBC News poll finds Republicans with a 21-point advantage on which political party better handles the economy, with 49% of registered voters picking the GOP and 28% picking the Democratic Party.

That’s the largest lead Republicans have held on this question in our poll dating back to 1991.

At the same time, the NBC News survey shows Democrats with just a 2-point edge on which party better looks out for the middle class, with 36% picking the Democratic Party and 34% selecting the GOP.

That’s the Democratic Party’s smallest advantage on this question dating back to 1989.

These results — which also find the GOP with advantages on immigration and crime, and with the Democratic Party ahead on abortion, education and health care — come after the Biden White House has made a concerted effort to tout the economic gains over the last two years, versus the job losses at the end of the Trump administration amid the Covid pandemic.

Biden has been touting "Bidenomics", a term people find confusing.

I agree. The parties are not the same. But that doesn't make one party "good." I'm pissed at the Dems for some of the shit they are pulling, but I do recognize they are "better" than the opposition. The problem is, better is not good. I want good. But huge money seems to want status quo and the Dems are ready and willing to go that route for money, the people be damned. I don't support that, even if it's better.

So you would not vote even for them if they were a little better than their opponent? If nothing else, your vote would cancel the vote for the opposition. By not voting you’re just giving more to the opposition.

American's just lack any interest in finding the truth about things, it's just easier to join a tribe and roll with whatever the current group-think is. A bit terrifying when you think about it. Astonishing that Republicans are just so caught up in their tribalism, cultural wars, and bickering to see what an absolute train wreck Donald Trump is. But he's entertaining, he pisses off the liberals, so I'll vote for him. Never mind that the guy is basically an organized crime mob boss who wants to do away with democracy, he's entertaining.

Your vote is your choice and I respect it. I'm tired of giving tacit approval of this bullshit. I would never vote for someone like trump (which is, oddly, why I won't vote for Newsom). The thought of voting for Biden again makes me sick (recognize he's done a little good but I believe he's gone mentally-admit I have no proof, just observation-and is totally owned by the machine). Will I follow through? Don't know. Ask me in November. :)

Same. I won’t promise my vote to anyone. It’s certain I won’t vote for trump. It’s hard pressed I’d vote for biden, yet it could happen, but only if the dems and biden reform and become a consensus big tent oriented. That means dropping the bloomie bullshit and stepping up front to visibly support those the repubs are attacking the most, including the transgender community and other minorities. The ball is in the dems court.

When it comes to mob bosses the solutions are fairly simple. I worry about the ones that hide behind the legitimacy of seemingly public approval yet push illiberal agenda. Stripping the very rights that protect us and give us recourse to address those mob bosses.

The thing is, if Trump and Biden are the nominees, then one of those two men will be president. That is the absolute reality, and I'm hopelessly addicted to reality. Try as I might to escape it, I remain tethered. I can shout and thump my chest, I can scream at the wind and throw rocks at the sea, I can even take my ball and go home, but at the end of it all, one of them will be president, and I have the power to effect which one of them it will be. If there was truly no difference between them, I wouldn't bother, but there is, so I will.

It’s not a reality if neither gets enough votes. I know it’s unlikely, but if another candidate got more votes in more states neither of these asses would win.

In general, I agree but this presidential race is different. 'Some' here need to read the transcript of President Biden's speech in Arizona. If y'all don't think trump poses a REAL threat to democracy, y'all aren't paying attention or are being 'willfully ignorant'..
Exactly. And just because they are “better” doesn’t mean I’m going to vote for them.
Again, this election is different. Get rid of trump, first and foremost THEN concentrate on making the 'system' better.

You worry about your rights? YOUR rights will be threatened under tump..unless you are willing to raise those 2 fingers and swear loyalty to trump...are ya ready to do that? I'm not..I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.

Except, throw the 'trump' wrench in there and the examination becomes skewed. Generally I agree, after trump is on a slab in a hospital basement...
