GOP Rep. calls for general to be 'hung' in echo of Trump's 'death penalty' comment

1
Congressman Paul Gosar, representing the 9th district of Arizona, said on Sunday that a retiring general should be "hung," echoing sentiments from former president Donald Trump, who said the military leader might deserve "the death penalty" for his purported actions.

Gosar, who was targeted for censure after his newsletter reportedly included a link to a website that promotes antisemitism and Holocaust denialism, said in his Sunday newsletter that General Mark Milley wrongly delayed National Guard resources surrounding January 6th.

Gosar's comments come just after Trump suggested that the retiring general who has criticized the former president deserves the "death penalty," prompting conservatives of various backgrounds to condemn the comments.

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

In Gosar's newsletter pn Sunday, he said that after the riot "was in full swing, the Chief’s request for National Guard was finally approved."

"But even after approval was given, General Milley, the homosexual-promoting-BLM-activist Chairman of the military joint chiefs, delayed," the lawmaker added. "Of course, we now know that the deviant Milley was coordinating with Nancy Pelosi to hurt President Trump, and treasonously working behind Trump’s back."

Going even further, Gosar suggests Milley should be executed.

"In a better society, quislings like the strange sodomy-promoting General Milley would be hung," he said. "He had one boss: President Trump, and instead he was secretly meeting with Pelosi and coordinating with her to hurt Trump."

TOS and the radical Rightwing are fast going to the point, of sounding like fascist Germany, when they call for people to be hung because they disagree with them.

Grammar Nazi!
I believe that "hung" is now acceptable, because language changes and evolves almost as fast as the COVID virus.
But "hanged" is still the preferred term. Lots of new words enter all the time, and new meanings are assigned to old words.
I remember when "uptight" entered common language in the late 60's. "Disrespect" is now used as a verb as well as a noun. Plus, new technologies add new words and phrases like "smart phone" "RAM" "Terabyte" "WiFi" etc.

Before Britain abolished capital punishment, there was the court room drama of the judge putting on a black cap to pronounce the sentence of death. To paraphrase - You shall be taken from here to a place of execution and there you shall be hanged by the neck until you are dead. And may God have mercy on your soul.

Which also brings to mind an old Monty Python skit about "Happy Valley," during which a defendant was sentenced to "be hanged by the neck until you cheer up," to uproarious laughter.
Eventually I'll figure out this signature thing and decide what I want to put here.

Once again, before any false and rife with BS false equivalency between the Dems/Biden of today and trump/maga-land..THIS is an example of what's in store if the fat, orange traitor ever occupies the WH.

So, all those who wish to say that the Dems and President Biden are 'as bad' and cast your 'vote' for the gooned up system we have by NOT voting..well, stand back and standby..a trump in the WH is going to be really, really ugly..And scary...And dangerous.

This is the GQP. The days of dog whistles are long gone. Openly courting Nazis, appearing at rallies with (or having dinner with) Nazi sympathisers and white supremacists, appearing at rallies organized by white nationalists, linking to white supremacist and Nazi websites, refusing to denounce white nationalists when called out to do so, openly calling for violence against LGBT people, calling for the execution of public officials ... the list goes on and on and it's not just fringe radio personalities, it's senators and representatives and a former president (who is also the leading candidate for the party's presidential nominee). Take a look at some video from 1/6. You'll see just as many swastikas as you will Q-Anon and confederate flags. This is not politics as usual. We are in a very very dangerous place. I wish more people understood that.
Whatever I said above, just pretend I included the obligatory “both sides,” especially if I said something mean about Trump (don’t want to hurt any feelings).

ME TOO..even some here on this forum...NO equivalency between the two candidates. 'Lip service' by the DEMs on trans issues while the GQP calls for trans people's EXECUTION...time to get a clue.
Now if he had only shown this type of commitment on transgender issues and other import issues that he and the dems just give lip service to.
A glimpse of what the trump 'legacy' will be..

Retiring Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Mark Milley said he's taking steps to ensure his own safety and that of his family after former President Trump accused him of treason in an online post. Milley made the comments during an upcoming interview on "60 Minutes" after CBS' Norah O'Donnell noted that Trump last week said that his dealings with China were "so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH!"

"I'm not gonna comment directly on those, those things," said Milley in the interview that's airing Sunday. "But I can tell you that this military, this soldier, me, will never turn our back on that Constitution." Milley said he had never made any calls to China that could be considered treasonous.

O'Donnell asked him if he's worried about his safety following the former commander-in-chief's remarks. "I've got adequate safety precautions," he said. "I wish those comments had not been made, but they were. And I'll take appropriate measures to ensure my safety and the safety of my family."
