Avidity Arms PD10 Defensive Pistol

Avidity Arms PD-10 manufacturing and testing: Some time in July or August I plan to visit and learn more about Rob Pincus’s pistol project, Avidity Arms. The company manufacturing the PD-10 pistol is just up the road from me in Fletcher, NC. Way back in October 2017 I had a chance to shoot a prototype, serial number D00001, so I’m looking forward to seeing the version that came to market, how it is made, and how it shoots.

It's a 10+1, single stack 9 mm pistol that weighs 18.8 oz. Rob gives a price of $499 in the video, but the site says $599. A Glock 19 weighs 21 oz as a comparison. I assume this is meant to compete with pistols like the S&W Shield as a compact concealed carry pistol.

Yup, quite a few options for the carrier if you want a 9 mm pistol that is concealable. Ruger, Glock, S&W, Beretta, CZ, SIG, HK, Kahr... a lot of choices and different price ranges. I'm still fond of the smaller calibers, 380 and 32 and even a 22 in the rare chance I'd have to use it for self defense.

The PD-10 has been almost a decade in development. There were a lot of features unique to this pistol when the early prototypes first came out, but the market is now very crowded with pistols that fill a similar niche.

The magazine for the PD-10 is based on a 9mm 1911 mag. I imagine generic 1911 mags would also work if they did not modify the mag catch slot or follower for the ones sold with the pistol.
