Suggestions for a .41 Magnum revolver?

1
Just got a bunch of new, primed brass from a recently-deceased reloader's family. It was quite a bit, too. I currently reload .38/357, .44 Spl/Mag, and .45 (Long) Colt among the traditional revolver cartridges.

I have enough .41 Magnum brass that it might actually make sense to pick up a .41 Magnum revolver. You know, to properly recycle and dispose of this "hazardous metal" material. :D I know that there's the S&W Model 57.

Any suggestions as to other .41 Mag wheelguns out there?

The folks over at CalGuns agree on the Blackhawk recommendation. I've been looking at wheelguns, and I supposed I should've stated in the OP that my preference is for double-action wheelguns. However, if a good deal for a .41 Magnum Blackhawk or similar were to cross my path, I might be pretty sorely tempted....

I know you say DA, but a Ruger blackhawk really is a handloader’s dream, wheelgun. The easily adjustable sights for different loads and stout construction make for a classic especially with hot magnum loads.

I don’t have a .41 but I have a .357 & a .45 colt. I would imagine a .41 mag to be outstanding in that platform.

I’d be all over a red-hawk as well. Good luck finding one. (I’ve been trying to find a .45 colt one forever.) The last one I saw was the 8-shot .357; and I would have bought it if I hadn’t recently got the S&W R8.

Unfortunately, I think that’s close to fair market price. The last redhawk I saw at the Ohio Gun Collector’s Association was $1k and it was in the much more common .357 caliber. I also saw a .44 for $1200 at the same show. I’m betting it’s pretty hard to find one In in .41.

Ruger center fire revolvers really shot up and never came down since 2020.

Looking at Cabela's used gun listings - there are 9. Anything south of $1500 is a Blackhawk. From there north you have options in S&W (6)57 and a scoped FA83.

I would totally go Blackhawk. Not that I'm biased. But I don't think .41 Magnum is the right choice for a DA revolver. You're already committed to a very boutique niche. It's not a caliber used defensively. It's a hunting round.

I've noticed that as well. Our wholesale price is pretty high up there now for Ruger revolvers. I remember getting the Super Redhawk 454 for $600 in 2009. Redhawks? I saw those regularly in the $400's even 10 years ago. GP100's and SP101's were likewise quite reasonable, very affordable, even new, and the used market was quite nice if you were a buyer.

Now, you can't even hardly touch a Redhawk for less than $900, let alone a Super Redhawk. GP100's and SP101's have gone way up from back then. Glad I got mine when I did! I may just have to wait until a sweet deal falls into my lap...and working for a gun store, they sometimes do.
