Demonstrators who want a Donald Trump indictment far outnumbered MAGA supporters Tuesday morning outside the Manhattan Criminal Court, where the former president is expected to be charged as early as Wednesday. The pro-indictment protesters gathered in front of the building where Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is investigating Trump over a hush-money payment made to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign. “No one is above the law, ” the group of about 20 demonstrators chanted.
Across the street from the anti-Trump rally, five supporters of the former president walked around holding signs including one that highlighted liberal billionaire George Soros support for Bragg, a common right-wing talking point. Trump has seized on a $500,000 donation to Bragg from a political action committee funded by Soros that was part of a nationwide effort to help elect progressive district attorneys.
“I wish more people had shown up,” said Trump supporter Philippe Lejeune. The 38-year-old New Jersey resident said he had expected more people to show up after Trump’s post on the social media platform Truth Social over the weekend. By the afternoon, a few more pro-Trump protesters arrived outside the courthouse including one man dressed like the ‘QAnon Shaman’ who was riding a bicycle. The newcomers engaged in shouting matches with pro-indictment demonstrators, but the tension quickly died down. It was not clear if the pro-Trump supporters were sincere or performance artists. “I am not worried about Trump supporters engaging in any violent activities. I am completely against violence. I am worried about ANTIFA showing up or anyone in masks and you aren’t sure who they work for,” Lejeune said.
The NYPD released a statement shortly after the email was received. “While you will see an increased uniformed presence throughout the five boroughs, there are currently no credible threats to New York City. The department remains ready and available to respond to protest and counter protests and will ensure everyone is able to peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights,” the statement read. At least two more related events were scheduled for Tuesday — a march of MAGA supporters from Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan to the downtown courthouse and a separate small caravan of pro-Trump cars was expected to drive from Long Island to Lower Manhattan.

The media is in a frenzy because the grand jury session today was canceled, don't know why. And the media promised that Trump would be indicted yesterday. It appears there are more media in front of the Manhattan Criminal Court building than MAGA protesters. Has the New York Zoo moved to Manhattan ?

As CDF said above.
A Manhattan grand jury isn’t expected to take action Thursday in its investigation into former President Donald Trump’s role in paying hush money to a porn star, people familiar with the matter said.

Grand jurors are scheduled to meet Thursday, but are expected to hear another matter unrelated to Mr. Trump, the people said.

It's become a three way circus. Trump's lawyer could have requested a change of venue to get the state court trial out of New York City to a purple county.

What's left is the US DOJ investigation by special counsel Jack Lynch with a grand jury in either DC or the Eastern District of VA and Fulton County DA Fani Willis' investigation that is supposed to go to a new grand jury.

Today Evan Corcoran, a Trump attorney is testifying before a federal classified documents grand jury. A few pages back on this thread, I mentioned that before Beryl Howell left as chief judge of the DC District Court, she gave special counsel Jack Smith a gift. Jack Smith's attorneys had asked Judge Howell to waive attorney-client privilege in the case of Trump and Corcoran, Smith's team alleged that Trump and Corcoran were engaged in a crime under the crime-fraud exception to attorney-client privilege, so the privilege should be waived and Howell agreed. Trump's attorneys appealed it to the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, which ruled that Howell's ruling was correct and ordered Corcoran to testify.
Legal experts have suggested there could be significant evidence in the transcriptions of personal audio recordings that a judge has ordered a Donald Trump lawyer to hand over as part of the classified documents investigation.

On Wednesday, a three-judge panel at the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered Trump defense attorney Evan Corcoran to testify to a grand jury and hand over a number of documents to investigators in Special Counsel Jack Smith's team. The order arrived after D.C. District Court Judge Beryl Howell supported prosecutors' arguments that the former president may have used Corcoran's services to carry out a crime. Howell said in court filings that Corcoran could be made to answer questions under oath while citing what is known as the crime-fraud exception, meaning that the protected attorney-client privilege cannot be invoked if a lawyer and their client are allegedly attempting to cover up or engage in a crime.

Corcoran has previously testified to the classified document grand jury, but declined to answer some questions while citing attorney-client privilege. The decision came as Trump also faces possible indictment and becoming the first U.S. president to be arrested as part of the Stormy Daniels hush payment probe in New York. As first reported by ABC News, Howell wrote in sealed filings that Trump may have deliberately misled Corcoran about his retention of classified materials, and ordered Corcoran to hand over a number of documents, including handwritten notes and transcriptions of personal audio recordings. A number of legal experts have now speculated that there could be damning evidence in these audio recordings that Trump's lawyer has been forced to hand over to prosecutors.

No doubt turd will appeal and hopefully lose again. He's gotta feel like a tom cat trying to cover shit on a hot tin roof !! I'm loving every delicious moment of his karma ass biting.

I expect the tallow from his melt down would make a ton of votive candles, although I would expect the stench of excrement and orange sweat would overpower the sense of smell so much that skunks would even scurry away.

Trump warns of 'death and destruction' if he's charged with crimes

Former President Donald Trump on Friday warned that charging him with crimes could lead to "death and destruction."

In a post on his Truth Social network, the former president once again attacked Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for potentially charging him with crimes due to his hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

While much of Trump's complaint about Bragg was a rehash of past complaints, he added the prospect of violence at the end of his post in an apparent effort to dissuade the Manhattan DA from filing charges.

"What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country?" Trump wrote. "Why and who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely (sic) hates the USA!"

The Manhattan grand jury weighing evidence about Donald J. Trump’s role in a hush-money payment to a porn star heard testimony on Monday from a crucial witness, but there was no sign an indictment had been filed, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The witness, David Pecker, the former publisher of The National Enquirer, also testified in January. Since the grand jury was impaneled early this year by the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, it has heard from at least nine witnesses — including Mr. Pecker, who has now appeared twice — and is expected to vote on an indictment soon.

It is unclear whether the grand jury took any action on Monday, but one of the people with knowledge of the matter said it had not voted on an indictment. Grand juries operate in secret, leaving the timing of indictments something of a mystery. Mr. Pecker was a key player in the hush-money episode. He and the tabloid’s top editor helped broker the deal between the porn star, Stormy Daniels, and Michael D. Cohen, Mr. Trump’s fixer at the time.
This particular grand jury meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, though it typically has not heard evidence related to the Trump investigation on Thursdays. The panel does not have to meet on each of those days, but only convenes when Mr. Bragg’s office summons the jurors. The timing of an indictment might also depend on the jurors’ availability. Sixteen of the 23 grand jurors must be present to conduct any business (and a majority must vote to indict for the case to go forward). For the prosecutors to seek a vote to indict, the jurors in attendance that day must previously have heard all key witness testimony.

The problem with the Alvin Bragg prosecution is it's like the Letitia James prosecution, as Democratic candidates they both talked about going after Trump. So it's very easy for Trump and his supporters to dismiss this case as another politically motivated prosecution. Prosecutors should be non-partisan and objective, instead their politicians whoring for votes. The Fani Willis, Atlanta case is also politically tainted. I don't think Jack Lynch the DOJ special counsel is political, but the ultimate decision to prosecute will be made by Garland and Biden.

The Manhattan grand jury considering evidence about former President Donald Trump's role in a hush money scheme may not take any action until the latter half of April. That's due to a pre-planned break beginning next week that coincides with Easter, Passover, and Ramadan, two people familiar with the investigation tell NPR. Prosecutors earlier this month invited the former president to testify to the grand jury, an offer his lawyers declined. But that prompted observers, including Trump himself, to say that an indictment was imminent.

Since Trump posted a statement about what he called, without evidence, an imminent "arrest," cameras have been stationed outside the courts building in Lower Manhattan. At least two witnesses have testified. Grand Jury proceedings are secret. Prosecutors are prohibited from speaking about them, and jurors can ask for more evidence, witnesses, or time for deliberations, so uncertainty typically surrounds the end of grand jury investigations.
The District Attorney's office isn't commenting, but one Trump attorney, Alina Habba, who is working on a separate civil case brought by the New York attorney general, issued a statement saying, "It is not normal to take a three-week break when you are up against a statute of limitations." Prosecutors have said the statute of limitations does not apply in this case because Trump has resided out of state since 2017, and because of COVID-19.

The pre-planned break means that prosecutors in other jurisdictions, including Special Counsel Jack Smith in Washington, D.C., and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in Georgia, could be the first prosecutors in the country to criminally charge a former president.

As the article states grand jury proceedings are secret and there are severe penalties for breaching the secrecy. Grand juries indict all the time and don't always announce the indictments, could be days, weeks, months before Bragg announces there is or isn't an indictment. Bragg could get revenge by doing it when Trump least expects it.

Former US President Donald Trump will be charged over hush money payments made to a porn star just before the 2016 presidential election. The details of the charges he will face have not yet been released. A grand jury voted to indict him on criminal charges, after investigating a $130,000 pay-out to Stormy Daniels in an attempt to buy her silence over an alleged affair. He denies wrongdoing. Mr Trump is the first serving or former US president to face charges. He is also being investigated in several other cases.

Mr Trump's attorney, Susan Necheles, confirmed the indictment to CBS News, the BBC's US partner. He is expected to surrender to authorities next week, a source told the Associated Press news agency. The Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg - who has been pursuing the case - is expected to inform Mr Trump and his lawyers about the indictment shortly. Mr Trump - who lives in Florida - will be required to appear in New York City for his formal arrest and first hearing in court. He faces the prospect of having his fingerprints recorded and his mugshot taken, like all defendants in criminal cases.
