Hi Everyone,
Native of "Commiefornia" here thats currently in SoCal. Guns are a big hobby of mine, and I own a handful. Unfortunately, many of the ones I would love to have are plain illegal to own in CA as a civie.
I consider myself a "liberal", but with how many "liberals" are acting these days... its been tough. I, along with many of my left leaning buddies have felt abandoned by the "mainstream left".
"Why be informed if you can use your feelings as your facts?"
Got myself a Mossberg 500, a Ruger American Rimfire, an M48, and a S&W M&P Shield. My #1 on the "to buy" list at the moment is a CZ 75BD. With how stupidly expensive things like rent are in CA and how much red tape there is for anything firearms related, I don't get as much range time as I would like.
The other gun related groups around (the largest 2 as examples), I find to be pants-on-head crazy. Here's to a relatively sane and reasonable group!

3I was up near San Jose, and now Im near Ventura.
Ive found the vast majority of people belong in 1 of 2 groups. People who have never heard or possibly never have used a CZ, and people who like CZ.

7Welcome from NJ! This spring and summer I was "lucky enough" to drive almost the whole length of Cali, from Irvine to Eugene, OR, in May, then back again a couple of weeks ago!VoidNail wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2019 12:57 am I was up near San Jose, and now Im near Ventura.

(my son went to Eugene to work for the summer).
I shot a CZ when I was shopping for my first handgun. I hated it. It double-fired on me, the only handgun that did, and I couldn't hit anything with it. It was one of a few that were instantly DQ'd and didn't even get ranked. I ended up with a VP9 and later a P320 RX.

9 Grew up in the Bay Area but now in So Cal. Not as big a difference between north and south as there once was, the coasts bright blue and purple to red as you go east. Agree, the anti-gun frenzy of CA Democrats makes it challenging for liberals.

10Greetings from actual NorCal. I like the feel of the CZ grip, but have not pulled the trigger on a purchase. Is your m48 unmolested by Mitchell's Mausers?

11If you are in Ventura, then you should come to the national meet in Oct. I'm sure there will be a bevy of CZs.

14Welcome from Utah. Enjoy the forum.
As for pants-on-head-crazy, only on Tuesdays for me. Another 5 days of sanity.
And I love my new CZ 75 Compact. It did need wood grips to feel 100% :-)

I have no idea what your statements mean. How do "liberals" act these days? I have never heard of "the mainstream left". What does that mean? Is there really such a thing?

18It's a bit like saying "Anarchists UNITE"the mainstream left
The left seems pretty scattered and divided to me.
The only unifying theme is "We f**king hate Drumpf".
I certainly do. Everyday I wake up and read more Crazy Town news.
OK, back on target (as we dogs sniff at one another :-)

24That’s about the most foolish bullshit I’ve heard in a while. There may be some ideas there that don’t suck, but prying them loose from that pile of ahistorical fantasy and misunderstanding of political meanings would be difficult to say the least.
To say that Trump’s win was a rejection of identity politics is to abet the very view that whiteness is the default for humanity. You wanna fall for the silly word games of the alt white; declaring that mentioning race is racist and that objecting to Nazi mobs is an affront to free speech, be my guest. At least have the decency to go so far as to read a history book or two, so as to be able to use terms like “left” “liberal” “classical liberal” “right” and “identity politics” in a way that aligns with what those words actually mean rather than how they are used by people who think Barack Obama is a Socialist.

25well that's much nicer than what i was going to say about mr. rubin's video and then deleted, i.e.. "what a pile of excrement".Marlene wrote: Wed Aug 28, 2019 10:11 pm That’s about the most foolish bullshit I’ve heard in a while.
