I don't get into many of the political topics here. I follow some just to keep up. However, the thing I like best about this place is that when you just want to talk about firearms, Technique, hardware, etc. we stay on topic. Not a lot of judgement around these parts. Weather it be race creed, color, lifestyle, hobbies, what have you.

Again, welcome and just be warned, we are a horrible bunch of enablers.

Hi and welcome from NJ.

Not sure I understand. What does defending your ethnicity against NA mean? That you have to defend NOT being Native American? Or defending accusations by Native Americans?
(since all of my family arrived in NY at the end of the 19th Century or beginning of the 20th, none were involved is the suppression, repression, or other atrocities against Native American people. One of my kids is from Central America and is, AFAIK, almost all, if not all, N.A. I'm expecting him to help me figure out my new Smart Watch, being a savvy 13 year old!)
Another user replied to a post of mine when I joked that Koreans love dogs as pets as much as eating them on a thread about pitbull killings, and he said in America we don't eat dogs you fish head, stick to fish.
I looked at his profile and it said 50% Native American. So I posted a several fact links that showed NA have eaten dogs horses etc. and asked if he is using that 50% NA like for other means if he didn't know his ancestry.
Other users quoted my reply to call them if I ever BBQ lol.
Kestryll then quotes my last reply with I see someone is looking for a ban and pretty much ends the thread.

Sometimes good to remember that what may work in person bombs in type....not criticizing, merely pointing out: been there, done that!

Hey - Happy Holidays and Welcome from Las Vegas, NV.

:welcome:

As for your interactions on the other forum, we live in a hyper sensitive time. I myself am rather socially awkward and I often cause some (hopefully minor) offense at times with no such intentions. I have found that there are no "neutral defense" comments welcome when the other party has taken a strong "i/we are victim(s)" stance. In fact, Native Americans have a lot to complain about. It can be difficult when one feels that have been lumped into the "offenders" group without taking any willful acts. The best course is to avoid angry people. You cannot change their POV and it will get you dipped in the pig sh*t discussions ;-)

Seriously welcome to the forum.

The best topics here are about (surprise) guns! I have learned an awful lot here.

Well, now that i've FINALLY found the intro section (you could make that a bit easier for us newbies to find, rather than dumping on us for not going there immediately), i'm older than dirt (as a child, we were poor, dirt was expensive, so i had the choice of playing on molten magma or in the vacuum of deep space), a veteran, ex-LEO, & spent a career in C3I (C4ISR), or the IC. & since so far, i don't feel like i belong in your tight little cliche, i'm more likely to write off my $10 than to share much more about myself, my experience, or my preferences in firearms. I'm a grudging NRA member only bc it's a requirement of my private range mbrshps.
For a small niche group, you're not very welcoming. 'Just looking for reasonable, egaliarian, progressive minded folks who don't irrationally hate guns, who might be open to actually fixing the gang problem, understanding it's not a "gun problem". I'll keep looking. Btw i DO understand your obvious institutional paranoia. Probably many on both sides looking to figure out what you're all about. So what?
I'm waaay to old to need to impress anybody, or to have to prove myself, so accept me, ban me. I couldn't care less.

Hi! Please don't get discouraged too quickly. We're really mostly harmless, just some people are more worried about trolls than others and tend to be suspicious.

There's a few others here, who like you, are reluctant NRA members, so you aren't alone in that boat.

Wisdomseeker,
Welcome. A lot of us suffer from battered gun owner syndrome and are alienated by our "own people" because we believe in all rights, not just some of them. Stick around, you'll find we're pretty friendly once we get past initial reservations.

Re: Introduction

A big howdy and welcome! Congrats you made it to the intro section. Older dirt eh! Some of us perhaps most of prefer to know a bit more about an individual. It’s not personal. You’re not the first or won’t be the last to receive an intro request or two. At any rate, there are only a few ground rules and they are pinned. Some people probably never read them and do fine. Being liberal in all aspects including a full support of the bill of rights would be stupendous, but it’s not an absolute. There’s a few here supporting some minor regulations. I don’t support many other than existing. The bill of rights is a liberal instrument. Again welcome and get to know us. Some of might us might be jerks even later, but I promise to be polite. This is a liberal gun club page, expect liberals and some like me that are far left of you, probably way way left.

Or if we are not harmless, at least we are remote :-)

I am not sure what your standards for 'older' are but several of us are over 60 (some well over :-)

That makes us hard of hearing, BUT ALL CAPS helps of course.

Seriously welcome to the LCG. I got a few claw marks on me when I did my intro, but they were all derived from self-inflicted communications on my own part. I really like the forum. I have learned a lot about guns and even more about how other folks see the world.

Hey, a lot of us remember the Geritol commercials "Do you have iron poor blood?" And you're pretty funny, too. Myself? I'm in my mid-60's, "early" mid-60's.

Thing is, we pound on each other as well, not just newbies. But we have one secret weapon that many of the other gun sites--and anti-gun sites don't have: We're fact-driven (mostly).
So if you've got facts, real facts, you'll get a hearing (but still maybe an argument). Some of us are libertarians, but most are liberals, Progressives and even some Democratic Socialists.
But flat-out assertions, especially ones that contradict others experiences, will get called out.

I was a fairly anti-gun. Had little interest in them other than very, very, VERY rare times target shooting with a .22 or air rifle. But the morning after Trump was elected I said to my wife: that they are going to feel free to come after Jews again and that we ought to arm ourselves. She agreed. We now have 2 semi-auto pistols and rifles, all in 9mm. Plus a revolver and Marlin lever-action, both in .357 Magnum /.38 Special.

I know exactly what you mean. When I was a child, my mother took us to various Sunday Schools for a few years. When I asked her "what religion are we?" she told me that I was Christened as an Episcopalian but when I grow up, I could become a Whiskeypalian (where you find four Episcopalians, you will find a Fifth). And my mother, god bless her soul, was dead on.

As a result, I live in constant fear that the 18th Amendment will come back to haunt us. Thus guns ...

Some young idealists here are also Anarcho-Syndicalists, a social system requiring a high degree of individual maturity and social consciousness. Kinda like a Libertarian who isn’t driven purely by selfishness. In other words more Millennial than Boomer.

Yup. YT and I have had several rounds at each other, always respectfully, and I'd still love to sit and have a beer with him. We agree on a lot more than we disagree on. It would be a pretty boring world without some debate. Can't say I've ever found that on other gun forums.

As for 'Anarcho-Syndicalists' - I refuse to contemplate any discipline I cannot pronounce after a few whiskeys, but I respect the ideals involved.
I also usually stay away from words I cannot spell without googling. Made an exception to try to impress the new member... and the math nerds.

I had to look up "Vepr pioneer 223"

Looks pretty cool.

I have barely visited CalGuns. Is it like most other gun forums? The southeastern local/regional ones are much farther to the right than many national or brand forums.

Yes, it's a shit show. I use it to stay current on laws but post very infrequently. By the way, there's a Featureless (capital F) there who is not me and I am not him. Rather different views, from what I've read.
