HELP! - Removing Pachmayr WhiteLine from 870

So, I see two little dimples in the pad (no holes) that must be where I jam a screwdriver - Flat or Phillips? Size? Or am I totally wrong?

I assume you're talking about the recoil pad. A new gun is likely a Phillips head. Press against the hole and it will slip into the pad until you reach the screw.

Puffing up is no substitute for smarts but it's a common home remedy

Yes, the recoil pad. The gun is early 70's, and the pad is clearly as old as the gun.
