At 5pm EST, California votes. That will put Biden over the top and allow for up to 32 faithless electors. When Hawaii votes after that, it will allow up to 36 faithless electors and Biden will STILL be elected! But I doubt there will be any Biden electors who are faithless.

The Michigan Speaker has just stripped Rep Eisen (R) of ALL his committee assignments for alluding to violence to be used to prevent the Electors from voting for Biden.

The Capitol will be closed due to Covid and...what is considered a viable threat. DUH! Of COURSE all the assholes who marched armed into the Capitol want to do it again and make sure if any Elector votes for Biden they can shoot him or her dead! Nazis!

Meanwhile the MSP claims there is no viable threat, but at this point, who believes them when they have to provide armed escorts for the Electors to get to the Capitol safely?

Trump suffers one final massive legal defeat just before electoral college votes for Joe Biden

President Donald Trump still hasn’t conceded the 2020 presidential election, despite suffering one humiliating legal defeat after another.

The president’s string of legal losses continued on Monday when the Wisconsin Supreme Court shot down the Trump campaign’s last-minute gambit to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

As reported by the Associated Press’s Scott Bauer, the ruling written by conservative Justice Brian Hagedorn was delivered just one hour before Wisconsin’s electors are scheduled to meet and vote for Biden in the electoral college.

Hagedorn wrote in his opinion that the campaign “is not entitled” to receive the relief it was seeking that would have thrown out more than 200,000 ballots in Dan County and Milwaukee County.

Trump on Friday suffered a door-slamming defeat at the United States Supreme Court, which refused to even hear a lawsuit brought by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that sought to throw out election results in four swing states.

Both Georgia and Pennsylvania electors have voted and certified for Biden. That leaves Wisconsin and Michigan still to go but they only have 26 votes which even if they proved "unfaithful" would leave Biden with 280 votes. Now it's still possible for the states to send duplicate electors but the odds of such tactics succeeding are increasingly small.

Republicans should do worse to Eisen for threatening violence. The Michigan State Police should also give the electors armed escorts back home after they vote. There is already a complaint that the Capitol is closed and the meeting of electors is taking place virtually from inside the Capitol.
Democrats and electors said the meeting is being done without people in the gallery of the state Senate chamber and the building closed due to security reasons given the political climate and COVID-19 restrictions.

11 am PST and AZ already cast their 11 electoral votes for Biden. They're on MST, but they get it done and over fast. CA does have 55 electors, but they should get the lead out and vote early.

Electoral College votes from ME and NE will be split if you're following the Tracker, they assign their electoral votes by congressional district.

Massachusetts -You want a parade to the state house
Missouri - Trump will give you a motorcade
Montana - You're used to tons of snow
Nebraska - You've had a month to divide the votes
New Jersey - Absolutely so excuse, send out the state police
North Dakota - Like MT you're used to harsh weather get it done

Biden 240 and Trump 232 electoral votes. CA, OR and HA = 66 electoral votes which will bring Biden to 306 EV compared to 232 EV for Trump which is the same as the networks projected.

It's about goddamn time President Joe stopped pulling his punches. Trump cheated, bullied, threatened, to try to overturn the election. Biden finally called him out on it, good and hard, and not even CLOSE to what the Orange Catastrophe has earned.

It's a start, and well-deserved. Trump's legacy will be having shit in the punch-bowl.

Happy belated birthday, Bisbee! Well, this should put a stake through the heart and keep the corpse in the casket! The Repubs have really outdone themselves this time, in truly criminal fashion. In the courts there are legal consequences for frivolous lawsuits and in Congress perfidy against one's oath to the Constitution should carry a sterner penalty than a tongue lashing. On one level I can appreciate the comedy elements; the amicus briefs by pretend states, the misspelled briefs written in crayon and failing to list the correct defendant, the farts and facial diarrhea, the Pollyannaish embracing of a weird alternate reality, etc. But of course, at the end of the day turning one of the few institutions that most Americans [used to] trust into a joke, that's something that will be around long after Diaper Donnie has died from a heart attack. Our nation has always had a lot of problems, but maybe one of the worst is that the founders naively assumed that elected officials would have some modicum of shame. But that's the biggest of Don's Cons- he never made any good faith effort to be president. How do you create a workable system of government when there's no mechanism to keep the guy [and it's always a guy] at the top from simply treating the whole thing as a joke?

I reiterate - The biggest or worse thing, bar none, this nation has done was to elect Trump president. The damage he has done far exceeds that of the last idiot elected GWB. We and generations to come will be paying immensely for this yuge mistake. We now have to contend with the orange ogre until the day he is planted, his spores and his coven of idiots that eat his shit up like ice cream whilst wallowing in his cesspool of lies.

Biden is in, but Donnie Dipshit isn't finished yet. He is now raiding the Georgia Senate races for money going to his PAC and not to the candidates. Grifter to the last breath. As in Texas we would say, "He'd steal the pennies off a dead man's eyes."
Trump is asking Georgia voters to help GOP Senate candidates — and keeping the money for himself

In Georgia, one of five states that President-elect Joe Biden flipped in the 2020 presidential election, President Donald Trump has been campaigning for two incumbent GOP senators who are facing runoffs in January: Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Sen. David Perdue. But according to Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt, there is "just one hitch" — which is that "Trump's new political machine is pocketing most of the dough, and the campaigns of the Georgia senators competing in the January 5 races aren't getting a cent."

In his requests for donations, Isenstadt notes, Trump is saying things like "We MUST defend Georgia from the Dems!" and "Help us WIN both Senate races in Georgia & STOP Socialist Dems." But the outgoing president isn't directly sharing that money with Loeffler or Perdue.

Isenstadt explains, "Trump's aggressive fundraising blitz appears to be devoted to helping the party defend Georgia's two Senate seats and, with them, the Senate majority. But the fine print shows that most of the proceeds are going toward Trump's newly launched PAC, which he plans to use to fund his future political activities. Only a fraction is going to the Republican National Committee, which is investing $20 million into the runoffs. A stampede of political figures from both parties are e-mailing their donors with links to donate directly to the Georgia candidates, but the president is not among them."

Senior Republicans, according to Isenstadt, are "rankled" by "Trump's fundraising ploy" and "worry" that "small-dollar donations are being redirected away from the runoffs." Veteran GOP strategist Doug Heye told Politico, "The reality is Donald Trump does not care about the future of the Republican Party. So, if he can raise money off of the Georgia runoffs but keep the money for his own purposes, he will do so."

Isenstadt explains, "When donors click on Trump's e-mails and texts, they are directed to a site that urges donations of anything from $5 to $2800. Lower down on the page, it notes that 75% of each donation goes to Trump's political action committee, Save America, up to the first $5000 given…. Regardless of the amount given, none goes directly to the Georgia Senate candidates. Georgia Republicans want more of Trump's small-dollar fundraising to benefit David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler."

Isenstadt also points out that "Trump's approach" has been "in stark contrast with" Biden, whose "campaign last week sent out an e-mail asking supporters to give $25 contributions, which would be split evenly between Georgia Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock and the Democratic National Committee."

Biden will be campaigning for Ossoff and Warnock at an event in Atlanta, and his efforts on behalf of the Democratic Senate candidates are the focus of a separate Politico article by Marc Caputo and James Arkin. In their piece, Caputo and Arkin stress that Biden has a major stake in the outcome of the two Senate races.

"The success of the president-elect's agenda hinges on the two Senate runoff races that will decide the balance of power in the chamber," Caputo and Arkin explain. "If Ossoff and Warnock fail to defeat Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler on January 5, it will mean a GOP-controlled Senate that's guaranteed to stand in the way of implementing Biden's policy goals.

Democrat Doug Sosnik, who served as White House political director under President Bill Clinton, told Politico, "I don't think there's a choice here. If he does go (to Georgia) and Democrats don't win, he won't be blamed. But if he doesn't go, then you guys would write about why he's not going. It's a good problem to have because obviously, the campaigns (of Ossoff and Warnock) want him there. It would be worse if they didn't."

Although Georgia was a deep red state for many years, it has evolved into a swing state — and Biden's narrow victory over Trump in the Peach State required a strong turnout in Atlanta (which is heavily Democratic and largely African-American) and its suburbs. Democrat Michael L. Thurmond, chief executive officer of DeKalb County near Atlanta, is glad to see Biden visiting his area.

Thurmond, who formerly served in the Georgia Assembly, told Politico, "Obviously, the president-elect coming will resonate with those moderate-to-conservative voters, and him being in Georgia is absolutely critical in order for us to have any success on January 5. It's his coalition. This is his coalition, and his presence and his endorsement will reassure those independent voters who are maybe concerned or on the fence."

On Jan. 6, Vice President Mike Pence will oversee final confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Then he’ll likely skip town.

As vice president, Pence has the awkward but unavoidable duty of presiding over the session of Congress that will formalize Biden’s Electoral College victory — a development that is likely to expose him and other Republicans to the wrath of GOP voters who believe President Donald Trump’s false claim that the election was stolen from him.

But Pence could dodge their ire by leaving Washington immediately for the Middle East and Europe. According to three U.S. officials familiar with the planning, the vice president is eyeing a foreign trip that would take him overseas for nearly a week, starting on Jan. 6.

Though Pence aides declined to confirm details of the trip, which remains tentative, a U.S. government document seen by POLITICO shows the vice president is due to travel to Bahrain, Israel and Poland, with the possibility of more stops being added. A pre-advance team of Pence aides and other U.S. officials left earlier this week to visit the planned stops in preparation for the multicountry tour, which would be Pence’s first trip abroad since last January, when he traveled to Rome and Jerusalem on a whirlwind two-day sojourn.

On the surface, the trip is part of a push to underscore the Trump administration’s role in brokering a series of diplomatic agreements to normalize relations between Israel and a handful of Arab countries, including Bahrain. But for Pence, visiting these countries is also a way to bolster already-strong credentials with the Christian right, which strongly supports Israel. And it allows Pence — once again — to put distance between himself and Trump’s complaints about the election outcome that are likely to intensify after Congress affirms Biden’s win.

It’s a tactic Pence has used to navigate the final days of Trump’s presidency: stay out of the spotlight and insulate himself from his boss’s baseless election-fraud crusade, all while still finding ways to burnish his own credentials and technically toe the party line.

Pence has promoted Trump in his work as head of the government’s coronavirus task force and while boosting two GOP Senate candidates facing runoff races in Georgia. But he’s declined to publicize his minimal involvement in the president’s election-fraud strategy. And while he has privately assisted the Trump campaign when asked — joining donor calls and lending his signature to fundraising pleas — his public comments since the election have almost all centered on other topics, including hosting an event focused on the Trump administration's anti-abortion policy at the White House on Wednesday.

“I suspect the timing is anything but coincidental,” one Pence ally said of his tentative travel plans.
