While using NG and LP as bridge fuels replacing diesel and coal, of course, politics and profits mean that they simply replace coal and diesel, but that the bridge to totally NON-polluting energy generation WILL stall and be deliberately delayed. Meanwhile ALL the efforts by ALL the rest of the world will come to naught as China is rapidly outpacing the rest of the world---building more and more coal-fired power plants, enough to undo everyone else's efforts to go Green.
Yup, China's economy is everything to them and their goal is to overtake the US economically and to also become a super power militarily. China including it's capital Beijing have major pollution problems, including dust storms from the nearby Gobi Desert.
China has the greatest number of coal-fired power stations of any country or territory in the world. As of July 2022, there were 1,118 operational coal power plants on the Chinese Mainland.
India is number 2 with 285 and the US is number 3 with 225.

If China doesn't kill us all with its coal plants.
