A bull barrel is stiffer, with less harmonic resonance and therefore less variance from shot to shot.
If you want maximum precision/accuracy, you should go for the bull barrel, even in a .22lr.

27Enough talk.
I cruised by several LGS's yesterday just for some last minute shopping. I was, at one point, tempted by an old Savage NRA Match 22 rifle but decided to stick to the plan. I looked at a trainer at one shop and offered my 999 Sportsman as a trade in, but (as expected) they didn't offer me much for it. I decided to think it over a bit. On my way home, I stopped by a Bi-Mart to get some other items and lo and behold! right there at the gun counter! there it was! Sadly, I was already late getting home and it was close to closing time anyway, but the clerk was kind enough to hold it for me. I picked it up this morning. I only had time for an extremely quick stop at the range, but it shoots great. I like the shape of the stock. Best part is the price out the door was considerably better than I could have done buying on line. Sometimes, things just come together.Re: cz 455 question
32Now we can test the Mannlicher and the standard side by side. You know, for science. I'm doing this for science, nothing selfish about it. I want to make sure that's clear.

33Science is a good thing. Have you picked out a scope yet?

34Congrats!

35Haven't picked out a scope yet but have been looking a bit even though I told myself I'd wait a while before adding one. Any recommendations on a good, but not too expensive option?

36I love my Nikon Prostaff if a 40mm optic isn't too bulky for your tastes.

37That’s a really nice scope for a rimfire, Bisbee. I really like my Leupold VX2 3-9x40 but it is a little spendy.

38I've got one of the Nikons as well, great for centerfire too. Great light pickup and clear optics.
