5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum

1
Yesterday I found myself in the LGS perusing various and sundry additions to my rabbit warren of parts, tools, and gizmos, when I came upon a very strange piece of ammo. I'd never seen it, nor had I ever even seen a weapon that would use it.

Anyone have a gun that takes it? Any experience with it?

There was one, lone box standing on the shelf. Only one. I wonder how long it's been there and how long it will stay there.

Remington may have been the only company to build 5mm magnum rifles. The models were 591M and 592M. The round itself is between the .17 HMR AND the .22WMR. According to the very small number of people who own one of those rifles, it is better than either the .17 or .22 caliber. Of course, you probably know how objective gun owners our about our favorite calibers.
