Brief two ammo review .45acp

I edited this by adding links and so on. In case folks needed data, here it is. We had my Chrony and my Springer 1911.

Hunting Shack Munitions (HSM) .45 acp. Retail $19.99 for a box of 50 reloads. Standard 230 gr FMJ. All went bang and cycled the action perfectly. However, the velocities were quite inconsistent, ranging from a high of 835 fps down to 802 fps. Most hovered around 810 fps. We were at an outdoor range, and from time to time I'd miss a two liter jug at 25 yards. Many different head stamps on the brass, with four nickel plated cases.

Mag Tech .45 acp. Retail $19.99 for a box of 50. Standard 230 gr FMJ. The better of the two test ammos, Mag Tech is clean and consistent. All went bang and cycled the action perfectly. All velocities dropped between 840 fps and 850 fps with most hovering around 846 fps. Nailed them jugs, I'm sure due to my Bullseye practice. Brass cases.

The company information for this round is not easily paste-able, so here it is:

We can see from the above information that my data differs from the published data at the companies' sites. Admittedly my sample is small. However, it shows me that value may be gleaned from an indifferent world by running experiments and shooting all available ammo for one's weapons. And shooting stuff remains fun.

HSM is OK range ammo if you can't get any other brand. If I ad to choose between HSM and Mag Tech, I'd go Mag Tech.
