Re: Pistol caliber carbine frangible ammo?

Frangible is designed for shooting steel at close range. The bullets will still hold together when shot from the longer barrel. I have not seen a box that says, "Do not use in barrels longer than six inches" or what not. Someone will come along with actual experience. My guess is you're good to go.

Admittedly there is the question of whether frangible would cycle semi auto carbines. It won't hurt the rifle. Might not cycle, though.

The only frangible I have shot is $1 per round 5.56, on an indoor range, to function test a newly assembled AR. Can't remember if it was the 16" or 20" one. It worked fine, except I felt really silly A) spending $20 on a box of 5.56 and B) shooting an AR on a 30 foot range.
