I didn't want to start a new steel v brass thread, but the other threads I found are mini-14 and bolt action questions.
I have been wondering about steel vs brass lately. With my semi-auto pistols, I stay away from steel. It just gives me a lot of FTE drills. I don't mind steel case for a revolver. The brass .223 costs as much as 5.56, but is 50% more than Wolf steel.
Some say that steel isn't bad for the AR, and the price is right. Any issues with running Wolf steel 223 in an AR-15? I would probably only shoot it through my PSA uppers. After 3000 rounds, the savings would pay for new uppers.
While the infamous Lucky Gunner "study" showed bi-metal bullets fired with constant mag dumps for 1000s of rounds without cleaning destroys the barrel sooner, they showed no real extractor issues. Other than that, I cannot find anything other than anecdotal evidence.
