Hello hello

#1 Post by Winterwolf00 » Sat Aug 10, 2019 4:40 am

Hello there everyone and nice to meet ya'll, I'm a pretty liberal (if not socialist) Texan who lives in San Antonio who happens to disagree with his fellow liberals on the subject of guns alot but the NRA is too extremist for me.
I'm not actually a gun-owner but I do find them fascinating from both a historical perspective (love history) and I'm hoping to get one in the future.

I hope ya'll make me feel welcome here.

Welcome. So which parts of the NRA’s positions do you disagree with? Curious since you mentioned it.

Yeah, that just seems funny to me. A Texan on a gun forum... without a gun? Never heard of such a thing, but I expect there are unicorns.

We need to get this new member to the range.

Normally, we would ask you to post some gun pics, but how about some Winter Wolf pics? Here's some of mine:

It's easy to disagree with the NRA "Leaders" and their racism, fascism, anti-semitism, and pro-trumpism, well outside issues involving firearms.
Plus, it's clear that the top leaders are crooks, robbing the NRA of membership dues for their own enrichment--like a $6 million dollar home for LaPierre, paid for with members' dues.

I was thinking Mosin or SKS, myself. :)

SKS would kick more, but definately has more socialist cred. Makarov to split the difference?

Can't go wrong with a Mak!

I remember seeing those dirt cheap (mint condition) a few years back, but I don't stock 9x18, so I never bought one. Wish I knew then what I know now about Makarovs and Mosin revolvers.

Hehehe well I'm a Texan who's in a tough financial spot atm, I've only recently gotten a well paying job where getting a gun that's in the realm of $600+ isn't cheap.

Their promotion of racism and conspiracy theories, their utter silence when legal black gun owners are shot by police.

Always been interested in older bolt action rifles like the Springfield or Lee Enfield rifles, but my recent favorite would be the M1 Garand.

Those Garands are pricey. The SKS can still be found for $299 these days, but most are under $400 as-imported.

I believe there are plenty of M1 and Enfield owners here.

I hope you get a million dollar job soon! If you do, please get me one of those jobs, too. :)

Yup, the Makarov or Pistolet Makarov (PM) used to be ubiquitous, used by military and police most of the Soviet bloc and around the world. The ever rebellious Czechs and Poles produced their own variation of 9X18 pistols. And it's even more popular cousin the AK-47 (Kalashnikov), revolutionaries favorite rifle.

Welcome from another SATX'er. When you're ready for that first gun, give me a shout out - I'm old and thinking of thinning the herd, no rifles, but a slew of pistols and a few revolvers. Or, we can go shoot a few just for shits and grins.
