Hello from Austin, Texas!

Post by JeffL612 »

I was kind of surprised to learn this group existed! Happy to find it.

Originally from NY, I got my first gun nearly 30 years ago. my liberal friends could not fathom why a liberal like me would do that. As they say, hilarity ensued. Needless to say I've been fielding calls from some them in recent months as to how to get started in gun ownership.

I had a .357 Taurus which I sold before I moved here. Getting a permit in NY was quite an ordeal. Now I've got a Glock 19 and would like to get a LTC.

I'd be interested in learning more about weaponry and going to ranges in the area that are relatively free from al the right wing nonsense.

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell. Get that LTC. Sadly, it's too easy here in Texas.

Welcome! You’re in atxgunguy’s region! Hope you’ll become active as one can in these times. The license to carry is not easy as some say, it’s appropriate and patterned after the same course of fire as required by law enforcement here in Texas. Welcome again and consider becoming a supporting member.

And yes, welcome! Given the state of affairs in TX, I am not organizing any LGC event until at least 2021.

I’ll second that for my region as well. But, if you need good advice atxgunguy is your best source in your area.

Hi from NJ. I grew up about 30 miles north of the City.
I was inspired by Trump--to become a gun owner. Which is why I'm here.

Completely understandable.

What outdoor range(s) would you recommend?

Thanks!

Lone Star in Lockhart is apolitical and has been obeying state Covid-19 ordinances regarding social distancing and masks

Pre-Covid Lone Star was one of our regular state wide meet locations. I suspect eventually will be again.
