Report from the Northwoods - and some bad news.
Filled 2 tags. A small button buck and a nice 8 pointer that is missing half of his antlers.
Fired at a doe yesterday morning with my Howa in 7mm-08. No more than 40 yards in thick brush. Did hit as there was some blood around the spot. Tracked for 40 minutes. Blood trail ended at the property line - and there was another party, including a kid, hunting over the line. The kid was yelling at us too. Hoping they shot (did not hear anything) or found it.
Went out this morning, and sat in the stand for 2 hours. Nothing seen or heard. Headed back to the house - stumbled on a deer and 2 fawns. Picked up rifle and fired. Missed.
One more tag to fill and also have 2 weeks of muzzle loader in December.
Any other MN hunters?

2Do you "process it" yourself?
It is an unfortunate human failing that a full pocketbook often groans more loudly than an empty stomach.

3The small one we are going to process. The Mother-in-law has already quartered and readied it.
The bigger one, we are going to drop off at the butcher shop in town. They did a good job last year.....
