So, I've been target shooting a PVC bow for a couple years and love it. I am getting a new bow and this summer I am wanting to go on several extended camping trips (I turned my minivan into a very lowgrade camper wannabe) and take my bow with me.
Of course this means that my bow will have to live in my van and I have been informed that storing a bow in a car during the spring and summer is a terrible idea.
If I stored a wooden longbow in a case in my van a few times this summer, will it cause permanent damage?
Probably, but I thought I'd ask.
Re: Camping with my bow
2You could maybe make a case for it out of some 4 or 6 inch PVC pipe and threaded clean out fittings. It would regulate humidity somewhat. And be inexpensive.

3I'll watch and see what happens. I have an uncased take down.

4Used to store bows in a minivan short-term, but never for extended periods. I think there are a lot of assumptions here re climate and humidity. Assuming KS - given your avatar - I'd think spring might be okay but I'd be leery about summer. It's the extremes you want to avoid.
Also, depends on bow materials. PVC isn't on the list that'd make me worry. For wood - I don't see how inside the van would be worse than camping outside in a tent.
