I'd like a nice 1-4x illuminated scope so I can shoot steel between 20 an 100 yards. I'd like to get something I could transfer to a hunting rifle at some point.
Looking for something with good glass, bright reticle and true x1 power.
Suggestions?
Re: recommendation of an illuminated 1-4x optic?
2Leupold make several. Some reasonably priced. Though I believe the minimum magnification (lower priced versions) is 1.5x.

4Depends on budget, but if you're looking for inexpensive but still good, this is the one I have on my 22AR, and it is totally fine out to 100.

6Check out the Bushnell Banner dusk-dawn. No frills, but it hits everything you need. At least I believe it's illuminated (tritium). I had one on a 12 gauge with no problems.

As for resolution and contrast, Leupold is on par with Zeiss, Leica, and Swarovski. Priced accordingly.

Re: recommendation of an illuminated 1-4x optic?
9Not bad actually, especially for the price. The Burris will run a bit more and is a scope that competitors use.

I ran the PA for the steel challenge last week- now I know why people stick red dots on their 1-4 scopes- a red dot is definitely still better for quick target acquisition.

10nice--just looking for a scope for a pig hunting rig for 50-200 yards

11If true 1x isn't a huge deal, the the Redfield scopes are quite nice these days for the price range.
Re: recommendation of an illuminated 1-4x optic?
12I'll take a look. Leupold makes a 1.5-4x scope that's illuminated and in my price range, but I'd like that true x1. The also make an illuminated scout scope in my price range, but I don't have a way to mount it.
Since I'm making a practice 22 lr trainer first, the cheaper scope should work for now.
