Looking for a x1-6 illuminated scope

1
I'd like to get an illuminated scope for my 357 pump. I'd like something that dials down to 1x so I can use it as a red dot. I'd prefer something that dials up to 6x, as I might move this over to a hunting rifle at some point.

I had picked out the Vortex Optics Strike Eagle 1-6x24 with AR-BDC Reticle, but someone here said that the reticle is "busy as fuck." Looking at it, I would have to agree.

Here it is at Amazon:

Then I found the Burris MTAC 1-4 x 24 Illuminated Scope. The reticle is much better, but it only goes to 4x

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005G00M5C/?c ... _lig_dp_it

I'll be "engaging" paper and steel targets at between 20 and 100 yards with the 357. If I move it to a 308, I'll be shooting between 50 and 250 yards at pig-sized vitals.

Let me know your thoughts and other scope recommendations.

Thanks!

I have a Bushnell AR91424I (http://bushnell.com/tactical/riflescope ... w-down-pcl) on my AR carbine and like it OK but its a little too easy for the turrets to get moved and loose zero. On my Saiga I have a Weaver V3 which I like very much provided the target is within ~100 yards as that is about the farthest I would be comfortable shooting given that level of magnification, my present skill level and that most local ranges top out at 100 yards.

I have heard good things about the Vortex 1-6. I have also heard good things about the Steiner P4Xi 1-4x (https://www.opticsplanet.com/steiner-1- ... scope.html).

Given that one of the major benefits of the .357 Magnum from a carbine is that its almost inherently a light and handy rifle, I would be uncomfortable encumbering it with a heavy rifle scope. If it was me, I'd buy a Weaver V3 or similar and mount it in lightweight aluminum rings or if I had the budget, titanium rings. I am not sure if such a low powered rifle scope would be suitable for pig hunting at those ranges.

Man, I'm eloquent when I put some thought into it.

I like a simple cross hair--I don't know what to do with windage, etc. and just find it's more shit in the field to sort through. This is the Leopold 1.5x4 that I have and would recommend. It can be a little frustrating if you're looking for touching groups at 100, but for pigs, it should be plenty (old timers hunted almost exclusively with fixed 4x, from what I understand). I don't find the firedot gimmicky--it's useful, quick and auto on/off. And it's light at ~12 ounces. The 1.5 is about as good as an aimpoint for quick shooting (not that I do much of that).

For some more dollars and magnification, these are on my sortlist. 2x minimum though.

Agreed, and I fully admit I don't even know what all those little tick marks are for (well, I sorta do, but...). I guess it depends. Paper at long range, maybe a benefit. On all those "tacticool" scopes? I don't see the point unless you plan on sniping and spending the rest of your life in jail. I like it clean and simple. Just like life. :P

Center Point Scopes from Walmart You'll have three choices for illuminated $58 $69 and $106. They come with flip-up lenses and mounts. You can try the mounts and see how they perform, I eventually replaced them.

And one more thing,

I often play at online casinos. I recently read some online reviews about these video slots - dungeontwister-videogame.com. I installed the app on my smartphone and have been playing for more than six months. I like the great selection at this casino, pretty decent winnings that I withdraw to my bank card.

For me, If I am looking for a rifle scope to support quick shots off hand, I'd get an illuminated 1-x power or a 1-4x FFP riflescope with illumination. I have found that a 1-4x FFP with a "busy" reticle that at 1x the reticle is just a black or illuminated dot.

Not sure what you ended up getting. Let us know!

I have really enjoyed the 1-4x a lot more than I imagined. My biggest issue is that the Bushnell (Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Circle-X Reticle Riflescope shotgun scope on sale $55!) is really 1 dot something instead of true 1x-4x. It isn't illuminated, but I actually like the "no battery" thing for these. If I could find something true 1x that didn't cost as much as a used car, I would love to try it.

I have a Primary Arms 1-6 Gen III in my shopping cart, I'm about to press "buy" lol. Someone stop me!

Also, any suggestions for mounting hardware? I'm an AR noob and not sure if "extended" is needed or QD is better than thumbscrews, etc. Any guidance is welcome.

I got a Primary Arms 1-6 first focal plane scope last month and it's excellent. The glass is better than my Vortex Crossfire II, and the eye relief range is huge by comparison. On 1x, the reticle functions as a red dot both lit and unlit. At higher magnifications, the ranging, hold-over, and windage features of the ACSS reticle are fully usable. I plan to get another for my .308 AR10. Love it!
