I'm building an AR and want to be able to co-witness my A2 front sight with a scope. I also want to be able to quickly detach the optic if I want to go with a lightweight iron sight setup.
This Burris mount gets good reviews, but I'm not crazy about the top rails -- a little too operator for me.
Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm looking for something under $100.

2I'm pretty sure the Burris comes with both the railed and not railed tops. At least mine did.

3Mine comes with both railed and flat tops. I keep the railed one just in case I want to attach something, like a bottle opener or the second laser.
Glad that federal government is boring again.

4Senor,
The PEPR is from what I hear a good mount and probably the best deal for a QD mount. American Defense is also pretty good (well, at least judging from their red dot mount craftsmanship) for slightly more expensive. Anything cheaper and you run the risk of it being junk, especially if you buy from no-name brands off eBay or Amazon. There are nicer looking mounts out there but they start getting into the $150+ range. I personally use a LaRue scope mount which is also an excellent scope mount, but it's double the price of a PEPR.

$40 - works fine although you will now have issues with your cheek weld, as scope and irons will be at 2 different levels.......
Most scopes 4x and over will look right thru the standard A2 FSB.

6Larue makes a mount for just about anything and for almost every purpose - want to have an offset T1, Larue makes a mount..

7Excellent choice, I have Larue mounts for scopes, Aimpoints M2s-T1s, ACOGs and my ATN 6015 - bit on the pricey side for folks around here it appears.USMC9199 wrote:Larue makes a mount for just about anything and for almost every purpose - want to have an offset T1, Larue makes a mount..
I have become really fond of the AERO ultra-lite scope mounts on ARs, less than 3 ounces and solid.
