Marjorie Traitor Greene's husband has filed for divorce.

Marjorie Traitor Greene is asking that people "respect their privacy" during this challenging episode in her life.

Yeah, no. She has no respect for anyone else, even at tough times in their lives. She has apparently had multiple extra-marital affairs that have been subjects of tabloid press outlets.

I'm wondering what took him so long to figure out just how toxic she is.

I've not gone through a divorce--I'm married to my first wife and expect to remain so.

I know many folks who have divorced from spouses, though, and if such is amicable, I don't take sides, but if it's because of spousal abuse, you'd better damn well believe I'll take sides.

This isn't about that. The reasons why he's filed for divorce are public record, apparently, but I'm not really going to address that any further than I already have.

As Jesse Dollemore and others are discussing this issue, however, is right on point: It's not about why they are divorcing, it's about MTG's ask for privacy when she has made a point of violating privacy of so many others.

You can't demand privacy for yourself if you won't give it to other people. That means we should not be demanding to know the details of the Greenes' divorce. I personally don't care about the details of her breakup with her husband, and I wish them both a swift and amicable parting.

Beyond that, MTG is still a traitorous bully who needs to be shut down.

With her holier than thou attitude, and her attacks on other people’s beliefs and behaviors, let the details come out before she runs for office again.

Why do I immediately think of this classic Churchill quote when I think about the spouse of MTG?

Her: “If I Were Your Wife I’d Put Poison in Your Tea!”
Him: “If I Were Your Husband I’d Drink It”

Heh! Another one, that I believe is also supposed to be an exchange with the same woman (a member of Parliament who often clashed with Churchill, but whose name I forget):

Her: You, sir, are drunk!
Him: And you, madam, are ugly, but I shall be sober in the morning.

The quotes are attributed to Churchill and Lady Astor. Nancy Langhorne Astor was American by birth from Virginia, a teetotal Christian Scientist who was very opinionated. She married Waldorf, Viscount Astor and became Viscountess or Lady Astor. British nobility at that time weren't allowed to run for seats in the House of Commons, but she didn't hold the title so she was eligible and was an elected MP from Plymouth from 1919 to 1945. They were both members of the Conservative Party and both sat on the same side in the Commons.

Back to the topic, MTG is a public figure and I expect the media will be all over this story. MTG isn't sensitive to other peoples feelings, so I expect especially the left wing media will hype all the stories about her affairs and other divorce related gossip. It's rare when the media backs off, usually only where a public figure has had a tragic death in their family.

What "left wing media?" CNN? They aren't "left," they helped make iDJT POTUS by not calling out his BS in 2016. MSNBC? They'll probably make note of the hypocrisy, but not much else.

I don't see Mother Jones bothering to do more than mention the kerfuffle. Huffpost isn't as well-circulated as it was ten years ago.

It will depend on how messy or deranged the divorce becomes whether it's newsy or not. If it's amicable I'll be sorely disappointed. I wish her nothing but the worst.

I always found it funny that conservatives love to talk about morals however, they have none themselves. Look at Trump, how many times has this dude married and dumped his wives? However, he gets excuses by the right, even the religious right. They compared him to David in the Bible. There was this one conservative pastor who supported a dude who ran a brothel, just because he was running for office and he had an "R' at the end of his name.

Honestly, I don't take issue with people who criticize the morals of a candidate, cheating on your spouse is wrong. However, it's wrong regardless of the party you belong to. Some of the clowns from the right have situational morals or morals when it's someone they disagree with.

IIRC we've had two divorced US presidents, Reagan (once) and Trump (twice) and plenty who had affairs and probably should have been divorced but it just wasn't done at that time. Britain's King Edward VIII abdicated in 1936 to marry a twice divorced American, Wallis Simpson. The current King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla are both divorced and no one blinked an eye at his accession, including the Church of England. The times are different, "for as long as we both shall live" isn't reality for everyone.

The couple was married in August 1995 and raised three children, who are now all adults. A petition to seal the proceeding was also filed citing "confidential and sensitive information" which may come out during the course of the divorce. The petition argues that "the parties’ significant privacy interest in sealing the records outweighs the public’s minuscule interest in access to said records." A hearing date on that motion has not been set.

That should be a packed hearing.

Ah but, Inquiring Minds (always) Want To Know.

Reason given for petition for divorce? -Infidelity? ED? Bat-guano-crazy?

I'm trying to think if anyone I know who is divorced had an "amicable" divorce. Possibly one cousin. He and his ex- stayed in contact for many years...not sure if they still do. This despite him living with another woman, unmarried, for 37 years, until she passed away. But my brother's divorce was messy, my BIL's 2 divorces were even messier. My wife's 1st marriage lasted two years, but the 2nd year was apart. Ours has lasted 35 years and counting (plus 2 years dating/engaged), and she's had ZERO contact with the first. And, as likely as it seems, his parents did NOT name him "The Schmuck"!

But these 3 reactionary neo-nazi icons all talk "family values" and "the traditional Christian Family" and theirs are all a mess. Perry Greene is the one filing for divorce--She may well be as nutty in private. Boebert's husband is STILL a violent, threatening prick, and a convicted pervert. Her restaurant was closed for multiple health violations (I didn't know poisoning your guests was a "family value"). And then there's Sarah Palin....Husband, now ex-, is a secessionist traitor. Grand-kids born out of wedlock, arrests.

Yup, family values.

“Family values” are a lot like “common sense”, neither are easily defined, mean different things to different people and are really bad labels to base legislation on.

Exactly. PBS did a series years ago with a title like Whose Family, Whose Values. It looked at many different types of families in the US like the traditional heterosexual/nuclear family, single parent families, same-sex families, bi-racial families, multi-religious families...they all functioned in similar ways and were as successful as any other families in the US.

The qualifier “successful” should therefore be used in any discussion where the term “family values” is tossed around like a soft frisbee. You know, them floppy ones that seem to fly well enough but are hard to get a good handle on.
