Thanks. So far the only bad thing for my wife and I reaching our late 70's is that so many of our friends are dying. For the many years I went to the KC gun show 30 of us would go out to eat on Saturday night. This year there were only 3 of us and I decide to no longer go to the show because its too depressing.

*sigh*

Shit! I'm in my 60's and it's happening to my friends, too.

You'll probably live another 50+ years.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, as it only just came home this weekend. I can tell you that the grips are stable as F__K. I will never go back to Plastic/Poly grips on a riffle. As for weight, not really a concern, the whole thing weighs a metric ton, especially when you add 50 round drum. The grips are a bit heavy, but they are skeletonized, so there's that.

They don't exactly, at least not on this model. The stock is stippled, not checkered. They laser etch the "random" stippling pattern, presumably to save money. Some of their other 457 models are checkered though, so I'm not sure why they don't do this one. In any case, it does its job providing grip, so I'm happy.

I finally got the final 2 rifles from my friend's collection.

This first one is a 1906 vintage semi-deluxe Model 94 Winchester take down rifle in 38/55. As expected most of the charcoal blue finish on the receiver has flaked off.

This one is a Model 1905 Mannlicher Schoenaur in 9X56. It sports an old 4X Zeiss scope that still has great optics.
