Gun Porn Thread

I intended to only purchase one handgun this year, and was hoping to be content with the .327 LCR (haven’t even made it to the range yet). But an opportunity came along and I couldn’t pass it up. A 1970ish vintage Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 Special. It’s in really good shape, but has a just a fraction of play in the cylinder/crane assembly allowing interference with the cylinder stop stud. Still looks very shootable and you can easily rotate the cylinder out with a little care. I’m going to talk to CA about service, and depending on what they say will decide what to do. Despite the hiccup I really like it. Nice trail gun with the 3 inch barrel. May try a set of those Pachmayrs like Senorgrand has.

A 1968 Bernardelli Model 60: Just got in under the wire.
Hammer fired version
Hammer fired version
The Model 60 is the hammered version and based on the striker version. Both were modelled after the FN 1910 Browning design.
The Striker fired version. This one was made in 1952.

They are single action and magazine heel release with the recoil spring surrounding the barrel.
To be vintage it must be older than me!
The next gun I buy will be the next to last gun I ever buy. PROMISE!

Dang. Those are so sweet... what's the ammo availability like?

I was able to find 8mm Lebel pretty easily a few weeks ago, hasn't even gotten much more expensive than it was before the pandemic.

Today I got what should be my last handgun. It's not for me but for my son, who, stuck in California, cannot buy an off-the-roster gun but can be gifted one, as long as it's compliant with CA's handgun laws--and yes, it does not have to be on the roster to be compliant.

It's a Sig P320 X full-size in 9mm--here's a stock picture of it:

I like the trigger better than the "voluntary upgrade" one on my RX Compact, which is pretty good.

But the funny thing is: The grip is a medium size Carry grip and you can see in the picture the slide extends beyond the grip. I actually exchanged it for my large Carry grip (in ugly green) and it's the same! How odd! I would think Sig wouldn't have used the same grip as the Carry. So with just 2 grips and 2 slides you can have 3 different sized guns: Full, Carry, and Compact!

Unfortunately it was supposed to come with 2 10 round mags but the seller fucked up and sold the one with the 10s so he shipped the 17s and I had to have the FFL mod them--don't like the mod--it's a slit and a dent in the mag, but, it's (technically) permanent and, so CA compliant.

Meanwhile, it will be a "Safe Queen" until he gets everything in place to legally own it in Cali including a home safe.

You can't fool me! My son looks NOTHING like Bill The Cat!
Seriously though, that's a hell of a nice gift.
I hope so. I would have preferred getting him a VP-9, which AMAZINGLY enough has been going for quite a bit less than P320s, but he really wanted the flexibility of the P320. While the Sig is an excellent gun, I happen to think the VP-9 and the Walther PPQ are the best striker-fired handguns you can get (Although all the CZ-aholics will differ)

Succulent with a bullpup. I have about 150 rounds through it so far and it eats up slugs, buckshot, and 3” steel shot with higher velocities. Standard target loads or 2 3/4” birdshot won’t cycle, but it’s a home defense gun so hotter loads are welcome. Plus, it is just super fun to shoot, especially emptying a nine round mag.

I think I need one of these...

The shotgun, not the succulent.

But I’m struggling to figure out the make?
