How do you like that Fightlite SCR?
Hi K9's, indeed, love it!

SCR's shoot softer than AR's due to their lighter weight BCG, plus the recoil/buffer spring heads down at an angle. This one prints a little over 1/2 MOA with SMK's at 100yds from a bag. The triggers are longer than ideal when compared to aftermarket AR triggers, but good enough for me when polished and run slightly wet.

Very nice! How'd you machine the bolt for the side charging?

Edit: left side charging? How do you like it?

And, we should be friends. Obviously, you have excellent taste.

A 18" side-charging Fightlite SCR in 223 Wylde, with 5X Burris Prism, Laser, and BUIS (plus a 9 X 32 UTG Scope).

We're in CA, so these SCR's are the shizzle LOL!
Nice! Get it with a wood stock and it won't look like a "scary military-style assault weapon" :sarcasm:

Decided to make my primary the Mauser HSc today with a Beretta Bobcat in my pocket.

One of the few IWB holsters I've ever found that I can abide by is my Don Hume that is for my Sig P230.

Fortunately my HSc also fits perfectly in the Hume so I'll see if I can wear it for a day or three.

Indeed, our GSD is Schutzhund trained and a crack shot LOL!

Actually, she's a long hair German Shepherd/Belgian Tervuren mix known as a Tervard, and here's a pic of her with her 100lb GSD boyfriend...

Indeed, and Remington 1100 stocks are just a bolt on with minor fitting required, plus Fightlite is now offering SCR's with various wood stock options as well.

While you can drill and tap the Fightlite Bolt Carrier for reciprocating side-charger use, in my case I used a non-reciprocating Gibbz side charging upper which works with a proprietary bolt-carrier cam, and is a simple bolt-on...

https://www.gibbzarms.com/product/g4-si ... ht-handed/

When using the left-side charger (known as a right-handed side-charger), with a ambidextrous mag-release, you can run the gun with your support hand which I love.

Glad you like the Gibbz. I've thought about it, but haven't committed. Major problem being, if I get a new upper receiver, might as well build a whole upper. Then what's this spare upper going to do, sit in the safe? No. Might as well build another lower...

Yeah, the fur and markings are Terv, but the ears certainly aren't. Never seen a GSD/Terv mix before but both are shepherds.
LOVE Belgian Sheep Dogs and Tervuren. Our last one passed at the end of June. This was taken on her 14th b'day, just 6 days earlier. Sweetest dog on 4 paws. Miss her.
Elfie's14th B'day.jpg
Wednesday, I was playing with a rescue Terv found down in Texas. Poor guy had no coat, worms, Lymes, fleas, ticks, broken teeth, and is reactive as hell. We met him to help the trainer who took him in socialize him and we clicked. He's still reactive as hell but he LEAPT into my arms, couldn't get enough of me (he and some BSDs were teaching our puppy, a mix of multiple hounds, how to play like a dog with other dogs). I didn't mind one bit. He's overbearing, but in a nice way.
He's been cured, had oral surgery, LOTS of intensive expert training, and has a gorgeous coat now. Underneath, he's a nice, friendly dog.

First world problems eh LOL?

The only issue I have with the Gibbz is the dust cover requires practice in moving your trigger hand thumb out of the way when charging to avoid getting it gouged ("ouch!").

There was one by Matrix with a telescoping dust cover that was superior in that regard, but they had a problem with Gibbz's cam patent AFAIK, so Matrix stopped making them around the time I built mine a few years back. If you're going to do one check for a upper with a telescoping dust cover if there is one available now?

Other than that minor annoyance the Gibbz has been great.

So sorry to hear, losing your dog never gets easier (beautiful pic of Elfie, thanks for sharing!).

Wow, getting 14 years out of a large breed is outstanding though as we've never got past 12.5 years with our GSD's (Rapunzel is #4). Rapunzel also was a rescue, and came to rescue sick with sinus and ear infections, plus noise, separation, and especially dog reactive to the max (great with human kids and adults though). It took a year and a half of sometimes intense training to get her straightened out, and she's pretty good now aside from her lingering dog reactivity, which is under control but still needs watching at times (it's her herding instinct which is very strong, along with some general Terv skittishness as she's always on alert LOL, though she's great with the family!).

Love Shepherds of all types too!

Recent acquisitions:

First, something a little different. Webley and Scott No 1 Mark 1 flare gun. Weighs a little over 6 lbs. Dont think I’ll be carrying it concealed...If anyone knows where I can get a shoulder stock, please let me know.

Next up, a Ruger LCR in .327. Very utilitarian. Function over form in this case. My first LCR. Still getting used to it and hoping I didn’t make a mistake trying to add another caliber in the middle of “Ammogedden”. I really like how the grip feels. Got a Sticky Holsters “MD-5” to try in the pocket first. May move to an appendix solution if I can trim a little more off of my gut. Thinking this will be a good summer carry option.

I draw the line at Corgis. Ugh. But O/W love all shepherds, Collies, Shelties--saw a gorgeous sheltie while bicycling yesterday.

When we bought our place in Abaco, I found an Orion flare gun there. They use 12 gauge flares, but a 12 gauge shotgun shell WILL cause it to blow apart--bad idea!
The 3 shells it has are an older style than the ones in the picture, but the launcher is identical....Talk about a plastic gun!!!! I realized it's technically my first firearm, but I've never fired it--flares are insanely expensive, especially in the Bahamas--$15/round! Of course, if you NEED it, what's your life worth?

Picked up my new Ruger American in .308win. I'm pretty excited about it, though synthetic stocks are not my favorite. I'm sure I'll learn to love the reduced weight though. I may put one of those Magpul Hunter stocks on it though... anyone have any experience with those?
Scope is my Nikon Monarch BDC and the mag is a from a Ruger 450 Bushmaster, which feeds .308 just fine and is far better constructed than the stock mag.
I even found 40 rounds for it at the local shop!

Nice! I like .308 as I think it's a really versatile round, especially in an AR-10.

Yeah, I think they did a good job selecting that grip. I briefly tried something a little bigger, but it was harder to conceal and really didn't help me shoot better.

Ruger didn't include a pocket holster? Mine came with a DeSantis as well as that nifty little carry case that just sits in the bottom of the gun box gathering dust.

I prefer the look of a nice wood stock, but the synthetic stock has a lot of practical advantages. If it is carried a lot and shot less often, the light synthetic stock seems to be a better choice. Does the stock mitigate recoil well enough for your use?

If you are just taking it to a range once in a while, heavy is fine. I think the Magpul stocks are heavier.

This will be strictly used as a hunting rifle, so yes, carried a lot and shot a little, often in damp conditions. I think the Magpul stocks are supposed to be heavier, yes... but probably still lighter than a similar hardwood stock would be- mostly I like the look of them, along with the increased functionality of the Magpul mags and MLok slots on the forend. I'll probably get this rifle broken in before I decide on the stock... The *stock* stock will likely get painted either way, some sort of FDE with light camo variation for use in the California grasslands / oak woodlands.
